Minneapolis mayoral candidate and Democratic Socialist Omar Fateh has stated that his first priority if elected would be to protect undocumented immigrants from the policies of the new federal administration.

In an interview, Fateh characterized the current federal government under President Donald Trump as "hostile," pointing to the Republican control of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches as a cause for concern among undocumented residents. Fateh's remarks follow the endorsement of both the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party and the Democratic Socialists of America.

Fateh, who is the first Somali American to serve in the Minnesota Senate, also addressed his stance on public safety.

While he identifies with the Democratic Socialists of America, he explicitly distanced himself from the national platform of abolishing the police. Instead, he proposed a system where a significant number of 911 calls would be handled by social workers and other non-armed professionals, arguing that about half of these calls do not require a response from armed police officers.

He advocates for redirecting funding to these alternatives while maintaining an "accountable police force" as an important part of the city's public safety system.

Fateh has drawn comparisons to New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, another democratic socialist and son of immigrants.

Comment:
This is the New Democrat Party.
They destroy cities and states.
The socialists are the takers, the workers are the makers.

This is why I am glad that line exists about three miles from where I live.

I am in favor of supporting the Minnesota counties that want to secede to the Dakotas. I hope they can do this. I want that line farther away from me.

Somali gangs have become a serious and growing threat to public safety in Minnesota, with most of them being involved in violent crimes, drug trafficking, and disrupting neighborhoods, putting countless families at risk. However, left-wing politicians seem more interested in protecting politically correct narratives than reporting the hard truth.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) highlighted the growing trend of Somali gangs wreaking havoc in his state.

"Unfortunately, the failing press in Minnesota, especially in the Twin Cities, is not. These Somali gangs are incredibly dangerous," Emmer said. "We had an attack at a high school basketball game last spring where a Somali gang came in and started beating a kid on a bench with a tire iron."

Emmer also recalled a tragic shooting tied to a Somali gang that took place during a graduation ceremony at the University of Minnesota. He expressed frustration that the incident received no coverage from the Minnesota media.

Why do the Democrat call themselves "progressives".
What is progressive about their gangs, crime and violence?

MINNEAPOLIS – Today, United States District Judge Nancy E. Brasel sentenced Abdiaziz Shafii Farah, age 36, to 28 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release for his role in a $300 million fraud scheme that exploited a federally funded child nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. Farah was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $47,920,514.

MINNEAPOLIS -- When the girl now identified as Jane Doe 2 came under their control in 2006, at age 12, the Somali Outlaws and the Somali Mafia gangs set a firm rule: Their members could have sex with her for nothing; others had to pay with money or drugs.

Repeatedly over the next three years, in apartments, motel rooms and shopping center bathrooms in Minnesota and Tennessee, the girl performed sexual acts for gang members and paying customers in succession, according to a federal indictment that charged 29 Somalis and Somali-Americans with drawing young girls into prostitution over the past decade, using abuse and threats to keep them in line, and other crimes. The suspects, now age 19 to 38, sported nicknames like Hollywood, Cash Money and Forehead, prosecutors said.

The allegations of organized trafficking, unsealed this month, were a deep shock for the tens of thousands of Somalis in the Minneapolis area, who fled civil war and famine to build new lives in the United States and now wonder how some of their youths could have strayed so far. Last week, in quiet murmurings over tea and in an emergency public meeting, parents and elders expressed bewilderment and sometimes outrage -- anger with the authorities for not acting sooner to stop the criminals, and with themselves for not saving their young.

The indictment was the latest in a series of jolting revelations starting in 2007, when a spate of deadly shootings in the Twin Cities made it impossible to ignore the emergence of Somali gangs. Then, came the discovery that more than 20 men had returned to Somalia to fight for Islamists, bringing what many Somalis feel has been harsh and unfair scrutiny from law enforcement and the news media.

"And now it's this sex ring," said Zuhur Ahmed, 25, who discusses Somali issues on her weekly program on KFAI community radio in Minneapolis. "Everybody is wondering what's going to be the next thing."

Is this what Progressive cultural enrichment supposed to be like?

What were the odds of another city having a mayor with a name like Omar? No one called John, Dave, Pete, Phil, Bob, or Roger was available???

Problem. Isn't this exactly the same pattern of the south refusing to abide and breaking off from the north that led to the Civil War that for years, democrats called treason?

If republican cities were refusing to abide by Biden and obstructing the fed from doing its constitutional duties, don't you think these same people would have called us traitors?

Except now it is the democrats doing it, masked behind a false flag of duty and patriotism.

Every Muslim that has ever been elected in the US has been a disaster. Looks like Minneapolis is going to get a Somalian Muslim Socialist as Mayor.
