Thanks. That is only a hearing though, they won't be reading transcripts or viewing authorization requests and scheduled calendar items.

He still needs to resign, he is now hindering the administration with this. Odd Biden didn't dump him by now, given the importance he puts on optics over substance.
Due process my dear, all in due process.... We really do not know what happened, when, or why.... All we have is a new book being promoted and a media sensationalizing it!.

You better learn the chain of command and the US gov't pecking order. Milley was sold-out, and he made up a story to cover his "unauthorized" call. It is what it is. In fact, Milley can disobey PTOUS' stupid order if he wants to; no reason to call General Li and played fav.
Are you insane? Regardless of what Milley did, it's not disputed that he did so with the knowledge of others.

Milley and Pelosi should be out of public service pending a ful linvestigation for treason.

Does the author of the book have tapes? That would settle matters quickly. That this is lingering only creates more doubt and more questions. The administration needs to nip this in the bud. The hearing is weeks away, this will remain public up to and likely beyond the hearing. It's bigger than a partisan brawl, the world is watching. Scandal at that level does not inspire confidence.

Not all calls were authorized. Who the 'fxxk' would authorize him to make this kind of promise. In fact, what would happen if US wanted to counter China after China had blockaded Kinmen Islands? Would Milley follow POTUS's order while informed General Li?

First of all, Milley was not our leader, and u should go to read what Miley told General Li; in fact, SOD already said he did not authorize such a call.
He is one of our most influential leaders, because the military is the last bastion of defense for we Americans and can stop an out of control President from doing something stupid.

No, I mentioned the military as a last resort.
You conveniently ignore every other resort and defend a general conducting his own private diplomacy. If this is the last resort, kindly show us how State failed, or even DoD, that would justify Milley's actions.

"The Chinese general whom Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Mark Milley reportedly promised to warn about U.S. military action is among the regime's biggest warmongers.

Li Zuocheng, a People’s Liberation Army chief and one of President Xi Jinping’s highest-ranking military officers, reportedly took several phone calls from Milley in the closing days of the Trump administration. America's top military commander cited his five-year relationship with Li as reason to warn him of an American attack, according to journalist Bob Woodward. The Chinese general has a history of making public calls for military aggression, threatening to "resolutely smash" Taiwanese forces or any other country that challenges the CCP's regional control.

Woodward reported Milley placed the calls to Li outside of the chain of command, failing to notify other senior officials—or the president—of his actions. The top general also summoned officers to review practices for using nuclear weapons, saying he must be involved in any such decision.

The Chinese general has met with military brass from other adversaries of the United States. Li led a Chinese delegation in a meeting with Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu in May 2018 to discuss "strengthening strategic coordination" between the two countries. Experts told the Washington Free Beacon in August that growing ties between the Russian and Chinese militaries pose a vital threat to American national security. Shoigu led operations supporting the Assad regime in Syria, as well as against Ukraine.

Li also rubbed elbows with Pakistani military leaders. Li met in 2017 with top Pakistani general Bilal Akbar to forge closer military cooperation. In the aftermath of the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban has signaled interest in joining Pakistani and Chinese trade agreements.

Revelations about Li's past may intensify mounting calls from Republicans for Milley’s resignation. Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) demanded President Joe Biden immediately fire Milley for his "reckless behavior."

So Milley's established 5 year friendship / relationship was the reason for committing treason...

Does Milley really believe China will not someday attack the US, given the chance? And on that day, does Milley truly believe his 'friend' would return the favor by calling him up and warning him of China's pending attack?

Do any of YOU?

A military general talking to his counterpart in another country. The state did not fail since Milley is a very high ranking member of the state. Been happening forever and helps keep the peace. Nothing new here.

That would be State Department. You know the folks whose job it is to conduct diplomacy. After them would be DoD, if it were a military matter. You folks don't even understand the basics of foreign policy.

Not an issue; Trump was the threat, not China.
