Military says no to tattoos

The military is drawing down and it's easy to find people to cut using stuff like tattoos as a criteria. Stupid, but that's the military for you.

I think it's funny how the military goes on and on about military bearing and haircuts and knifehands and how all that kind of crap is what wins wars, but when you look at pictures from WW2 and troops have long hair and visible tattoos on sailors and hands in pockets and t-shirts outs and they beat the Germans and Japanese around the world.

So yes you can have tattoos. And how dare they have rules which have always been there that I know of for a fact.

Fail.......

Tattoos are stupid and tacky but to each their own.

I've read that the military is turning away people because they're too fat. I suppose its possible this new rule could cut out even more possible recruits. OTOH, as long as President Obama is in office, we won't be going to war.

The reason the military succeeds is blind obedience. They can still have their tats. They just can't show. Seems like gramps is having another of his non-issue meltdowns.

Some fun, funny and one really artistic tat sites--

No they did not say not to tattoos.

Below the knees, elbows or on the neck....yes they did. There is of course a grandfather clause.

I am speaking about the Army here.
I didn't bother to cite the regulations but here's a good recap:

Army Regulations for Tattoos thumbnail
Those interested in joining the Army should make sure their tattoos aren't prohibited.

Becoming a part of the United States Army requires acquiring a certain professional appearance. This means not displaying certain marks or tattoos that may be considered offensive or hateful. So before enlisting in the U.S. Army, people should be aware of which marks, tattoos and brands are banned by the military.

Ideas For Tattoos
Types of Military Discharges in the Army

Offensive Marks

As of 2010, a member of the U.S. Army must not have any marks or figures that are considered lewd or offensive on any exposed part of the body while wearing his prescribed duty uniform. This includes exposed parts of the body during the physical training uniform. Any tattoos will be photographed and submitted to the military unless they are in the private area.

Tattoos and Brands Above the Collar

As of 2010, any tattoos and brands visible on the face, head or neck above the class-A shirt collar are prohibited by U.S. Army policy. However, small, innocuous tattoos or brands that are not prejudicial to the policies and discipline within Army units are allowed on the hands if they do not detract from a professional military appearance. Women are also allowed to wear permanent eye-liner, eyebrows and lip makeup as long as it is not considered “trendy” and complements the uniform and complexion in both style and color.

Tats are hangovers from extremely primitive cultures and have no place in modern society!

First thing guys did after basic was black guys bought cars they could not afford to drive and a boom box, and the white guys would get drunk and find a new tat with a hangover.

They are trying to keep gang bangers out. Russian mobsters tattoo stars on their knees. It means they kneel to no one. Each gang tat means something. To keep them out no tats are acceptable.
