There will be another election. But most of all, it is short-sighted. And after all, Trump may have a base that will stomach anything, but State legislators do not.

Not so nefarious as one might imagine.

With the Executive and Legislative Branches in the same party, it is not unusual for the legislature to grant extraordinary discretion to executives, since they are all on the same team.

With divided government, the legislature will naturally scale back the power of the Executive to be more in line with the state's constitution.
