Michele Obama goes to China.. Forbids any reporters.

To compare what Moochelle has spent on her junkets to Laura Bush's trips is absolutely moronic!

Really???

Which First Lady Flies Highest? Michelle vs. Laura

With the attention Michelle Obama has received for her various trips – and they no doubt have cost taxpayers some significant chunks of change – you might be surprised at the results of National Taxpayers Union Foundation’s (NTUF’s) peek into our two most recent First Ladies’ international travelling habits.

Michelle Obama has already travelled 72 days abroad up to this point. Certainly not an insignificant total, and her first term tally of 55 days abroad is more than President Reagan spent abroad in his first term.

Yet, MichelleÂ’s two-term travel record will almost assuredly fail to keep pace with Laura BushÂ’s record-setting feat.

The former First Lady racked up a two-term total of 212 days abroad. Her second term included 135 days of international travel, which is more time than her husband, George W. Bush, spent abroad during the same time period!

In fact, if you compare Laura Bush to the Presidents, she is currently the third most internationally traveled of that group, behind Bill Clinton and her husband – though President Obama will likely push her back to fourth in a few years.

Think again, if you can...:D

When her husband ran for president, she saw the light and became proud of her country for the very first time. That was a magic moment for her, and she probably wants to do the same with as many big countries as possible. Being proud of China too could be a big feather in her oriental cap.

Still waiting for your 'brilliant' explanation...

And I am still waiting for you to acknowledge the importance and worth of tradition.

Pull up a chair and let your straw man take a break, since I have never argued against that in this or any other thread.

Now you go...

If you want to have a discussion about tradition, unc, what exactly do you want? If you are not clear, again, I have to not take it seriously.

And I am still waiting for you to acknowledge the importance and worth of tradition.

:lame2:

When I commented on Chinese tradition, in post #79, you denied it.

No, I did not.

Do you think it is going unnoticed how desperately you are trying to avoid your previous comments?

To begin with, while not even going into tradition, their writing system is a thousand times more difficult than ours, and therefore their brains are far more stimulated simply by learning to write.

This has got to be the silliest comment on this thread.

You've been to China, how many times now?

I've been to "both", multiple times.

And to pre and post China, Hong Kong.

Maybe we can compare notes.

Unbelievable.

Her husband is running the country into the ground and she takes the kids to China for a Spring Break trip on the tax payer's dime.

First Lady Michelle Obama will be accompanied by her children and her mother on her trip to China, which begins today. But she won't be accompanied by the press.

"Michelle ObamaÂ’s trip to China starting on Wednesday will be nonpolitical, the White House says, a 'people-to-people exchange' emphasizing the importance that both nations place on education. As if to underscore the point, no reporters are traveling with the first lady, and she does not plan to give interviews while there," reports the New York Times.

The White House is defending the first lady bringing her family along for the ride by saying it's what the Chinese would want. "Tina Tchen, Mrs. ObamaÂ’s chief of staff and a first-generation Chinese-American, said a multigenerational visit would be appreciated by the Chinese, who value tradition," says the Times.

But in America, the trip is not without controversy. "Mrs. Obama is drawing scrutiny for her decision to travel with her mother and her two daughters, who are on spring break, bringing to mind a vacation she took to Spain in 2010 with her daughter Sasha and some friends. She and her entourage paid for their lodging and entertainment. But the security cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars, and the trip was criticized as lavish.," reads the report.

"Some conservative commentators are calling the China trip a junket. The White House will not say how much it will cost."

She is probably just looking at houses in China. After all, when they are done destroying the US they will need someplace to live.

If she took reporters then you'd cry about how much it costed...no win

These repubs are happiest when they're miserable. It's their nature. They should thank Michelle for putting a more misery in their lives.

Not really....Who makes an official visit with the First Lady of China on their vacation?

Michelle and the girls will be major attractions wherever they go in China. Like it or not, she is representing our country

Have a problem with international diplomacy?

As I said. You can call a visit anything you want to. I think they are on vacation and have disguised it as an official visit. Any port in a storm and an "officeal visit" sounds much better than a costly vacation would.

Oh I'm sure some of the Chinese will want to get a gander at Michellle and her daughters but I doubt they will be considered rock stars.

Of course the Obamas will have to travel to be seen. Vacation anyone??

Poor Claudette. Even when confronted with facts, she just trolls on and on.

Again, Laura Bush spent 212 days outside of the USA from 2001-2009, on the taxpayers' dime, and I bet you never said a damned word about. Michelle Obama will not come even close to the "vacation" record that Laura Bush set - not even close.

But I don't begrudge Mrs. Bush this - it's part and parcel of the Presidency, and smart people know this.

Oh so because Laura Bush did it then its okay for Michelle Obama to do it??

Your a moron bub.

Michelle has no reporters with her. Wonder why?? As for her "official" visit? She has no offical designation in the administration outside of being First Lady.

As for all those visits LB made wonder what the cost was as compared to Michelle and her jaunts to China and Spain to name a few. Oh and lets include all the visits to Hawaii. Bet she rolls up some pretty hefty costs with her visits.

Now if the POTUS were with her I wouldn't say a word because the POTUS needs vacation time. No problem there but for Michelle or any other First Lady to jaunt all over at taxpayers expense, especially since nothing she does is official, then yeah. I've got a problem with it as everyone should

Especially with the economic situation in this country. Yep. Lets waste a few million so Michelel, Mom and the kids can all go to China on "official" business.

No reporters. Yup. Vacation time at the taxpayers expense.

Or she could be involved in a little thing called "geopolitics".

But not like you folks ever think outside the box.

Talking outside both sides of your mouth; contradicting yourself. Saying it's okay for one first lady but not another, then saying it's wrong for all first ladies. Wow, some brainy stuff there. :cuckoo::lol:

you are right, for Michelle Obama will not be able to even come close to Laura Bush's "vacation" record from 2001-2009. No matter how you slice it, Laura Bush was considerably more expensive for the taxpayers than Michelle Obama - if you are really hell bent on bitching about this in the first place.

And BTW, only racists call her "Moochelle". Feel better now?

No link to the numbers? and the racist card...all in the same post!
And still no answer as to why Laura Bush's travels were a cardinal sin and Michelle's are just peachy-keen, AOK.

Yeah your pretty good at talking out of both side of your mouth. As for brainy?? That you aint.

I'm not in favor of any first lady jetting all over the country at taxpayers expense. The FL isn't the POTUS and has no official standing.

Of course you approve of Michelle because she's a Dem and married to the current jackass in the WH. You ***** about LB but are okay with Michelle.

As I said. Brainy you ain't. More like a biased brain dead partisan hack.

:lmao: Did you even read the link? Bush traveled 3x as much as Obama. It's not even a matter of approving one woman over another: the fact is that no one in their right mind can point the finger at Obama whilst Bush traveled 3x more than Obama has. You are the one who is the 'biased, brain dead partisan hack.':lol::lol:
