If this country focused solely on itself and its own problems like every other country in the world and wasn't out trying to engineer everyone else for some secret, clandestine, evil government need, you'd only be paying half the taxes you do today, you'd own that second home you've always wanted, and every city would be clean, every bridge and highway shiny like new, and every neighborhood would be scrubbed of crime and riff raff. There would be no illegals, no slums, no poverty, and no homeless.

Maybe not. With USAID gone, the government cleaned up, standard of living goes way up, education goes way up, and opportunities open all over the place for people who never had any opportunity.

This would transform society after a time, and rip the floor right out of ignorance, poverty, drugs and crime. Slums, unemployment, and homelessness would largely become the exception instead of the rule in every city because life would be too good for most to bother with drugs and crime because the opportunities would be out there for most to live far better lives.

With greater opportunity and better food and living, this would also eat a huge chunk out of mental illness.
