I am planning a dinner party. So, last year I took four out to eat at an Ethiopian restaurant. The number has doubled and that is not going to happen. So, to satisfy the wanderlust I'm doing a Mediterranean mezze platter. I wanted to throw some stuff in there that my son hasn't had as well as stuff he really loves. This will be in August so it's going to be hot.

Cerignola and Kalamata olives
Cheese
Saganaki (maybe)

Hummus
Baba ghanoush


Tabbouleh

I've been making a marvelous hot-weather cocktail out of seltzer with a scoop of gelato in it.

It's not on the Mediterranean theme really except for the word gelato, but it's damn refreshing.

Or how 'bout this --- rose water iced tea.

The ME restaurant I go to in New Orleans, it's an automatic order. Delicious. They put pine nuts in there too but I don't think that's necessary.

Great find I'm not familiar with it but grapes dates and rose water, what's not to like?

The raisins are right out though. Soon as I'm installed as Emperor those little bugs are getting banned.

But good sleuthing there OP. I'll be hunting for Jallab syrup next time I get to a specialty grocer.
