I don't blame her for not allowing U.S. troops to go after the cartels in Mexico.

I blame her completely that Mexican Troops are not going after the cartels in Mexico.

That's probably true, but I am the eternal optimist that believes that every country has a "Trump' out there somewhere who will do what he/she can to correct the worst of what's wrong if the people just have the good sense to elect him or her.

I once took a tour in Mexico and while the guide may have been speaking tongue in cheek, this is what he said and it seems appropriate.
In the US, your president is elected for four years and if you like him, you can elect him again--if not you move on. In Mexico, we elect our president for one six year term and it allows him to stuff his pockets for that entire time.
What I didn't read into it due to my naivete, was that the president would not care who was lining his/her pockets.

Mexico and so much of Central and South America are economic failures. All have little to no middle class and their histories are replete with corruption, greed and turmoil. The fact that drug cartels and gangs are forces on par with the countries’ Military is beyond concerning.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Saturday that she rejected President Trump’s offer to send U.S. troops to the country to fight against drug trafficking.

Sounds to me like she's bought and paid for by the cartels.
