That's a really simplistic view. The conquistadores were just as savage, if not more so. It all comes down to who has the best technology my friend. That's who gets to write history.

The genocide of native peoples here in the Americas by Europeans, even here in the US up into the nineteenth and twentieth centuries is a real shame and a black spot in our history that nobody ever talks about.

I don't support protests like the one in California at all. I think the protestors acted completely inappropriately. But I also think some of the reactions here on the board are just as bad. I see the terms "*******" and "****" being thrown around along with exaggerated fantasies about murdering Mexican immigrants. That's really inappropriate, un-Christian and low-class too. These illegals are only trying to gain a better life for themselves and their families and I think there has got to be a better, smarter, more Christian and more humane way of dealing with them than just putting up a wall.

The US has every right to exercise control over its borders and expell any illegal aliens.

And no, SE, the US is not responsible for the poor of Mexico.

And I think the US has the right to build any wall between them and Mexico, although I believe the humanitarian concerns expressed by Celine should also be taken into consideration. The purpose of the wall, fence etc should be to prevent illegal immigration not kill poor mexicans and other latinos.

OCA also seems to agree with all these points rejecting at the same time this sky is falling mentality.

I’m gonna create a thread explaining my position on this issue more clearly but now I would like to pay a bilingual homage to OCA:
