Sorry, but you CANNOT patent a naturally occurring substance that occurs freely in nature, MW! If so, then you could sue me for patent infringement just for letting a plant grow in my yard. I'm not heavy on chemistry, but if you read the patents, they are for the cannabinoids processed into a particular FORM, specially processed and/or concentrated for an explicit medical application, but they DO NOT have a "patent" on cannabis sativa (pot). Trust me.

BTW, if anyone is interested, the molecule for DL-lysergic acid diethyl amide-25 (LSD-25) fits into a receptor site in the base of the brain like a key--- a receptor site which serves no other known purpose. Having opened it and applying delta-9 THC, it rewires the brain into a totally different configuration much like a Transformers car to where the corpus callosum virtually disappears and the two lobes of the brain effectively act as one, increasing neuron utilization, intelligence and creativity vastly.

it calms the tremors...my wife has epilepsy and it calms her left hand which has a tremor that her prescribed stuff dont do shit on......
