Behind the Orange Curtain
Mitch McConnell (D - Rino) went on the radical leftist Suday Shows to declare that if Republicans retake the house and senate, they will ban abortion at the federal level. We would expect this sort of hyperbole from Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, or AOC. But many are shocked that McConnell would make such a statement. The question is, "is Mitch TRYING to make Republicans lose?" Occam's razor - yes, he most certainly is.

McConnell is clearly stumping for the democrats by trying to create fear of Republicans taking radical action.

The Republicans have campaigned against abortion for decades, if they fail to take action now when they have the chance to, they will be exposed as being Full of Shit.

The Turtle was spot on in his remarks. They are essential to retaining credibility and support.

Again, Republicans will find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The time of the conservative is coming to an end.
Why do you rail continuously?
Accept it. :auiqs.jpg:

So what you're saying is that McConnell should have kept it a secret, then just put up the bill when they win?

Disagree.

I think that he's definitely playing into "opposition" hands on purpose.

IMO, this kind of talk is aimed at casting shadow of doubt onto the slew of anti-swamp republicans that are on the precipice of wining primaries across the country.

Republicans have opposed the federalizing of abortion for decades. If they were to try to federalize the issue, they would fail and expose themselves as hypocrites and frauds.

i don’t see where he said he would ban it. He did highlight that if the leaked opinion is true that yes abortion would be dealt with in the legislative process and of course abortion is worthy of debate

You'd think that you'd be able to keep it on the down low?

You know I've been saying for a long time that Democrats are too dumb and greedy to be successful because they constantly overreach and have a bad habit of cutting of their noses to spite their faces. But this thread is demonstrating that Republicans aren't much better.

So McConnell strong arms the Supreme Court into the solid lock conservative majority that Republicans have wanted for decades, Roe v Wade is about to be overturned, and Republicans want to can him for serving up more of what Republicans want?

You really believe that?

The Conservative position for 50 years is that abortion is an issue for the states to decide.

Traditionally, conservatives favor bottom up governance, where the people have to greatest political power. Electing representatives to govern in cities and towns who are directly responsible to the people. Towns and cities cede a small portion of the authority granted by the people to counties and shires. Counties cede a small portion of their authority to states. States then cede a small portion of authority to the federation, the federal government for the purpose of national courts and national defense.

democrats have a far different view, where there is a ruler, or group of rulers in Washington DC who hold absolute power. The Ruler will appoint barons, earls, ministers, secretaries, et al. to execute the will of the ruling caste on the many states. Governors are the rulers of the individual state, deriving their power from the central government and submit to rule by the central government. Counties must submit to the rule of the state, cities must submit to the rule of the counties, and the people must submit to the rule of every level of government.

Abortion being dictated by the central rulers is consistent with the top down rule of democrats, but is at odds with bottom up governance as supported by conservatives.

Roe V Wade is a law illegally imposed by fiat by the court. It is patently unconstitutional. The courts do not have the authority to create law. Roe must be thrown out as it is an affront to constitutional government.

Which has ZERO to do with McConnell stating that a Republican LEGISLATURE - the branch of government that DOES have the authority to craft law would place a ban on a federal level. Will some congressmen, Greene for instance, craft legislation for a federal ban? Quite possibly. Would it pass, of course not, would Quid Pro sign it? Of course not.

McConnell is engaging in hyperbole in order to damage Republican election prospects.
