Maybe Stephen Colbert and John Stewart should have Thought it Through?

Agreed 100%. He is like some CNN or MSNBS anchor interviewing Tulsi Gabbard and lying and asking a question, "Some say you took your job because you secretly love Trump and want him to lave that ugly had Melania. How do you respond to those who say that?"
The 'when did you stop beating your wife' questions are always going to be intellectually dishonest and maliciously motivated. And they are intentional to trap the interviewee because there is no way to answer them honestly.

When Colbert or other clueless among the TDS afflicted calls Trump a Nazi or fascist, or alludes to something he did as being that, it is without foundation or substance. It is intended to get agreement from other idiots who would maliciously and without substance characterize him that way. So they laugh but it is hollow humor.

If Gutfeld says "Trump is a Nazi", his context, body language, facial expression, tone of voice is obvious that he is using it satirically and is in no way intended to be taken literally.

Colbert comes across as a mean spirited, dishonest, partisan hack to honorable people.

Gutfeld is funny.

I'm old enough to remember when late night TV avoided anything controversial like the plague. Carson just told non-political jokes, did bits and interviewed guests. This was the case even in the politically hypercharged 1960's. Different age.

The reason the late shows went political in the 90's is because it sold and was profitable. And the reason they are being pulled now is because they are no longer profitable. They are not on the air so they can speak truth to power or some such bullshit.

Jon Stewart is a whiny little ***** who can kiss my doughy white ass.

Carson did all sorts of political jokes. Why do you feel a need to just make things up?

Its argued that it was Carson that helped turn the country from Nixon.

Probably, which was the point of the OP.

Did CBS kid Colbert that he could be as vile and unfunny as he wants in attacking Trump and Trump supporters and there would never be a consequence?
Ultimately, it was advertisers who dumped Colbert and CBS was not going to make up the shortfall of $40 million annually.

Colbert is just an angry, pompous leftist who thought that lecturing others with his leftist politico- religious ideology of hate would be acceptable to sponsors.

Fair enough, but Carson didn't advocate for either side. His political jokes targeted anyone and were never unfunny screeds.

I thought Woodward and Bernstein did that.

And as has been shown, Stewart has gone after both sides.

Colbert not so much.

Out of touch clowns are not funny nor entertaining... they are creepy....

Colbert not so much.
That's a load of crap. I watched Carson for 20 years and I still couldn't tell you his political leanings. Colbert is a shill for the Dem party.

The discussion was over condemning both parties and I never argued Colbert did but I guess you couldn't address what i said.

Ideally, late nigh hosts should not be condemning either party. Carson never did.

Colbert was never anything even close to fair and balanced. Stewart was a little better, but his deranged screed over his friend's show being canceled is revealing.

An example of repeating a lie often enough and hoping people believe it.

But if you're trying to convince me that Colbert was anything even close to fair and balanced, then you can save the gaslighting for someone else.

Bugger off.
