Maybe Stephen Colbert and John Stewart should have Thought it Through?

The other aspect is, research has shown that people who are funny have an intellectual advantage over people who have no sense of humor.

Maybe they are just too intellectually dim to be able to have a sense of humor.
It's all indoctrination, Votto. All indoctrination. People become rigid in beliefs and there's nothing you could ever do or say to change them. Once they start hating the other side (tribe) it's all over. They ignore anything bad about their own tribe, and any mistake or wrong doing by the opposing tribe is treated as if it is the end of the world.

The most major news story in history is being ignored by the liberal press which is that Obama, Brennan, the FBI and Hillary along with Perkins Coie and Dan Goldman and Weissman set Trump up for impeachment on false charges is being ignored. That they are ignoring it is how people are indoctrinated, which is not only what they are told, but what they are not told.

With anything close. Outside of an assassination nothing would meet your standard.
You mean because so many Democrats and "not Democrats" have tried to assasinate Trump?
I posted him slamming Obama. There are plenty of other times he did also.
You did. I missed it.

Anyone that condemns the orange one should be destroyed, eh?
Nope. Condemn Trump, or anyone you want anytime.

They just cannot expect to be given free use of the public airwaves for nothing more than partisan hackery, not even disguised as humor anymore.

Colbert can start a Youtube channel now and keep all the money for himself. Stewart can also, if the axe falls.

Free speech is more free than ever, now.

Sorry, I misread this at first.

Okay, Stewart "goes after" Obama in that clip. But for what? Giving the bad guys amunition. The bad guys, the other side, the enemy, etc. That's not going after everyone.

Nothing like "go **** yourself if you're not willing to sacrifice your business to let me and Colbert keep making childish attacks on Trump on your dime!"

Are you seriously going to argue that such programs are politically neutral?

He clearly condemns both sides......often. Trumps in office so he gets the most attention at the moment.

This was all over the network needing the administration to approve their merger and Trump getting his taste.

Probably, which was the point of the OP.

Did CBS kid Colbert that he could be as vile and unfunny as he wants in attacking Trump and Trump supporters and there would never be a consequence?

The daily show at least was a political hackfest from the start.

What pissed people off was turning late night which used to be about entertainment, comedy, and the interaction between the host and the celebrities in question into political theatre.

Fallon got it, at least partially.

Kilborn was funny because he's naturally funny...He and Kenny Mayne doing SportCenter together was must-see.

The only time I can ever remember Liebowitz being off-the-cuff funny, was when he was mocking Colbert's dogged adherence to the "we don't know COVID came from a CCP lab" narrative....Every other time he's either bitter or just not at all amusing.

No silly, they will just glibly say it is fake news

Either that or anything to stop Hitler.

Greg Guttfeld does a similar thing with Democrats. The difference is....he's funny,.
That and he does it on cable.

The FCC has little more than rate jurisdiction.

The big three public airwave broadcasters (ABC, CBS, and NBC) should have had their licenses pulled or restricted for a while now.

Here John Stewart laments the loss of Stephen Colbert's The Late Show:

Of course, it is profanity-laced. What else? No doubt he fears that he will be next.

Here's the thing, though:

Did all of those late-night comedians really think that they could turn late night comedy into nonstop unfunny attacks on a man like Donald Trump, and there never would be consequences? These guys are not Youtubers, podcasters, or vloggers. They work for a huge corporation that has been granted free use of one of the most valuable natural resources on the planet, the publicly-owned airwaves.

In that sense, they are almost as subsidized as NPR and PBS. In fact, they make so much money with their free (and government protected) use of the people's airwaves that they would laugh if offered the money that our gov pumps into NPR and PBS.

Would it have hurt them to at least try to pretend to be apolitical? Would it have hurt them to throw in some actual humor along the "go f*** yourself!" directed over and over at members of the audience who dare to disagree with them?

I hate to say it, my Democrat and "not Democrat" fellow posters, but mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Post Trump-at-it Stress Disorder

For once, the Voices from a Box are afraid, very afraid. Tell-a-Vision has been ignoring FAFO for decades, so its sudden appearance must come as quite a shock.

Who gives a shit? Neither of them had anything serious to offer anyone who had a brain.

It breaks the law and first amendment to use the government in any way to control or punish or diminish etc. free speech, ESPECIALLY speech with DISSENT and political or government mocking speech.

The government had nothing to do with the demise of two dimwits. Two grown men too silly to be taken seriously by anyone. The networks got tired of supporting them. They can join Benny Hill and Rowen &Martin now.

But Gutfeld is funny because he reports actual news in a funny way, drawing amusing but appropriate comparisons.

Real humor does contain truth. Call people names with no truth in them, making ridiculous characterizations with no basis in fact can get laughs from equally mean spirited people but the humor is hollow, without substance and is unsatisfying. Good people can go along with the laughter to 'fit in' but it is uncomfortable for them and they know in their hearts it is wrong.

So these late night shows that use hatefully expressed dishonest content come up hollow for good people who sooner or later choose not to waste time on it and they move on.

Agreed 100%. He is like some CNN or MSNBS anchor interviewing Tulsi Gabbard and lying and asking a question, "Some say you took your job because you secretly love Trump and want him to lave that ugly had Melania. How do you respond to those who say that?"

Gutfeld is the king of late night talk.
