Matt Gaetz withdraws himself from AG nomination

Do you know for absolute sure he didn't do what he has been accused of doing?
No, I do not have any special insight in it. Other than the left will lie and smear any man they don’t like simply because they do a good job at exposing how corrupt and shitty Democrats are.

Every MAGAturd accusation is a confession.

About as much as you know for sure that he did. Yet he's being hung out on a cross as guilty by the left, their typical MO, they'll never learn.

There is the report from the DOJ that confirms it for me. go read post 179

I have to confess that I wasn’t thrilled with Trump’s first choice for AG.

I wonder if Matt Whitaker could take the slot and forego being the Ambassador to NATO?
Or Todd Blanche. He looks like quite the hardass

Trump/Vance Transition."

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) announced on Thursday that he is withdrawing his name from consideration for attorney general after being tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to serve in the position.

Gaetz said that his decision came after meeting with senators on Capitol Hill on Wednesday. He said that it was “clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition.” Gaetz’s withdrawal comes as multiple senators expressed concern over his confirmation and the House Ethics Committee weighed releasing a report on alleged sexual misconduct.

“I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback – and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition. There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1,” Gaetz wrote.

“I remain fully committed to see that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history. I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I’m certain he will Save America.”

I think that it may be payback time for a few Representatives that decided to torpedo his chances with threats of a report that won't do any legal harm to him but likely significant political harm.

I didn't think he was going to be nominated anyway, but if the left wants to pull out the stops in dirty politics, let the games begin.

Not really shocked he’s pissed off a lot of people during his time in Congress more than a few in his own party so him getting confirmed was a long shot. Him being out of Congress and dropping out for AG might end up being a long term benefit to Trump and the party.

What does it say about the judgement of a soon to be CIC who nominated a person of low moral character, devoid of the experience required to do the important work of the DoJ?

Obviously, the calculation was Gaetz would not be confirmed so Team trump told him to withdraw.
