Mass Shooting in Austin, TX

I loved that album.
I play guitar and have been working on "Since I've Been Loving You" for some time. Not easy at my skill level. But I love that song and that album.
I wanted to be able to sing Immigrant Song but seeming that it involved voluntary castration on my part, I declined in favor of some other pursuits in my life.

Multiple arrests, but details are sealed.

It's not all about skill level. You'd probably need a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard plugged into a small tube amp like a Vox AC30 or a small Supro. And miked both near and at a distance, mixed together.

Jimmy Page knew that "distance makes depth."

Obviously, you have an idea of what you're talking about. :wink_2:
I do have a Les Paul but not a '59 sunburst.
And my amp is just a dumb ol' Boss Katana, not a Vox AC30 or Marshall.

Those older small tube amps are made of Unobtanium. I used to find them at garage sales back in the 90's but they've all been snarfed up by collectors.

I collected National & Danelectro / Sears Silvertone Guitars found at Pawn Shops & Thrift Stores when Touring as a drum tech in the 80s ( they were like art to me )

Yeah and I don't think there are any tubes made in U.S. anymore. I believe they're all made in China or Russia. 😥

I had one Vox ( Phantom ) Black & white from the 60s it was like a British Strat .

I have 2 Strats.
Two Telecasters.
One Les Paul.
Two semi-hollow bodies (D'Angelico and Gretsch).
And a couple of oddballs.
And a couple of acoustics I hardly ever play. I'm an electric guy.

I have one 1930s Master Made Classical ( Like Willie Nelson’s Beat to shit favorite ) but mine is in good shape and not played in almost 30 years

The original US made tubes can still be found on Ebay or Reverb, but they go for an arm, a leg, and a left nut. 12AX7, 12AT7, 6L6GC, 6V6, EL34, KT66 tubes are still out there, collecting dust in some people's basements or attics, but they've become scarce with the advent of Ebay.

I was always more of a Fender Stratocaster, Fender Twin Reverb, or Marshal JCM800 kinda guy, until I gave up playing altogether back in 2005. I was getting too old, too crazy, and the music scene in Texas was changing too fast. Plus the fact that everyone wanted to be a businessman and not an artist.

I have a brother in Illinois who has been collecting vintage gear ever since the late 70's, as well as making his own guitars. He became a born-again Christian and only plays for himself and his wife these days.

The early to middle 80s were the salad days of Vintage Guitar Collecting . Buddy ( Guitar Tech ) found an Early Blond Thinline Tele at a tiny Pawn & Gun and I found a Top of the line Delux full sized Silvertone with extra features and tweed Amp case with extra fire bottles and effects that was purchased by a young guy who
Played it a couple of weeks then it was put in a closet and he went off to Vietnam and was killed and his Mom dropped it at the Thrift store a few days before I purchased it .

I have a pretty wide variety of guitars but find myself favoring bolt-on necks (Fender style) and semi-hollows (Gibson ES335-types).
I picked up my first guitar 9 years ago at the age of 63. I'm completely self-taught. I've never had a lesson and don't read music.
For the last 9 years, I've played almost every night and I've gotten reasonably good. I have about an 85-song playlist but until recently, never played for anyone but myself. I play through headphones with my iPhone connected to my amp, playing mp3 files that I learn and play along with through my headphones.
Recently, I've begun playing for my brother, sister and a few neighbors. And even my wife has begun to express some interest. and is requesting songs now.
It's one of the greatest joys of my life.

Don't you guys have your own thread for this juvenile infatuation?
