aug 30 2024 Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) confessed to making “an honest mistake” after it was revealed he misrepresented his military record years ago.

Moore claimed the military “awarded me the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge” on an application to join a prestigious White House fellowship in 2006, according to a New York Times report that broke Thursday.
The Maryland governor wrote Thursday that he was later “disappointed” to learn that he did not ultimately receive the promised Bronze Star. He admitted he never issued a correction to the application.

“I sincerely wish I had gone back to correct the note on my application. It was an honest mistake, and I regret not making that correction,” Moore reflected.

What this tells me is he was playing politics while in the military. In all my time in the military I never heard of anyone being promised an award. When I got my bronze star I had no idea I had been recommended for it. Also even if recommended, and the command doesn't think it's deserved, they will usually downgrade the award, not just deny it out of hand. Something is still fishy about his story.
