If it is legal for gays to marry, then fine.
It is.
But the STATE hired this woman...
Actually she was elected not "hired".
and there is separation of church and STATE.
Correct. She attempted to inject her religious view into the performance of her job as a public servant.
Her RELIGIOUS beliefs are...man and woman. Period.
Which is fine. She can hold those RELIGIOUS (since you want to use capitals) beliefs all day long.
However as a representative of the STATE (since you want to use capitals) that is not a reason to refuse to do the work of the STATE.
So now she is sitting in jail and her RELIGIOUS beliefs have been violated.
She is not sitting in jail because of her beliefs, she is sitting in jail because of her actions.
Kinda like Rosa Parks being pissed about sitting at the back of da bus.
Rosa Parks wasn't a STATE (since you want to use capitals) agents representing the STATE.
Rosa Parks practiced civil disobedience to eliminate discrimination.
Ms. Davis is attempting civil disobedience to promote discrimination by the STATE (since you want to use capitals).
