Notably chicken and Pork.

Eggs.....well there's something else gong on with that.
I buy from a wholesaler 15 dozen at a time...works out to about 3 bucks and change per dz.

Bulk Cheese has come down a little

Bread has eased off a bit....but you have to look for the off Brands

VEGGIES have held steady at some high prices...even the Mexican Imports

Still too high for the average working family of four with Median Income in the sixties.

WTF has happened to pork, it's almost flavorless now.

My butcher used to have great pork but damn, even it's tasteless now.

Yeah you noticed that too? I don't know. I used to like to use a fatty cut of pork for a good spaghetti sauce and it definitely made a difference.... Now it's like chunks sponge.

chorizo is a pretty good add on to the sauce as well IMO and its about the cheapest way to get pork into the pot these days.

Lol...
Gonna try that!
Far and away better than ground beef for a meat sauce.....Just cook browned and drain off the of grease and leave what you want. Usually the grease left in the tall-sided pot/skillet I use after draining is enough.

I use JD regular.....I messed up and bought sage once and I did not care for it. Spicy might be good for a bit of bite but I've not tried it.

Anyone that has been by at supper and tried it loves it.....My dad even liked it and he was not a spaghetti eater to speak of.

I'll probably use the grease to saute onions, red peppers and mushrooms to soften them up to throw in the sauce.

That's what I do with it but I found I don't need a lot of grease.

Then again I use a just bit of water (2 oz maybe) after they are heated up good to steam them in the pan/pot.

Once soft (but still steaming) I return the sausage to the pot and the steam helps break it down into smaller bits as you mix them. Remove from heat, add sauce, and slow cook till supper time.

It's full of chemicals. Hormones, etc. We quit buying store bought meats 20 years ago. Full of toxins.

Just wait until those tariffs hit.

Beef, chicken, and eggs are up because of the avian flu.

I've actually found that locally chicken is down a little bit but that might just be here.

Yeah the avian flu is definitely an impact.

So far it hasn't changed the wholesale price of eggs though.

With the crowd that I have here 15 dozen eggs disappears in 2 weeks.

Was thinking about the tariffs the other day because the grocery store that I go to gets a lot of Mexican produce.

Maybe you’re just getting old.

I work with elderly and I’m convinced that their constant complaint of “food not having flavor like it used to” is more about their diminishing taste buds than any real change in the food itself.

Well to be fair.... I kind of agree with him.
There's probably something different being done with the feed and the keeping. I'm used to a very strong flavor in the pork ribs That seems to be missing in today's product. Not sure how to explain it.... Very porky I guess....Lol.

I am determined to go down south and try out some of the wild boar product that is available down there. I'm told that it's a very intense pork flavor like pork on steroids.

Makes me curious.

I'm here in the midwest, I don;t know where you are

A dozen grade AA large eggs was just under $5 this afternoon at Dillons (aka Kroger)

Yeah.... Get them from the local wholesaler.
15 dozen minimum purchase.
Keeps the price down pretty good.
But then again not everyone can use that many. I did notice when I was in the grocery store the other day that they were eggs for as high as $10.99.

Wild boar is pretty gamey.

And ya gotta be real careful how it's cooked or it's tough as an old tire.

Yeah, I'm just cooking for me. The one child who is still at home is tube fed on special formula.
