We are in the Last Days. When God created the earth, he created it in 7 days. But were these days the same as our days? According to the Apostle Peter, a day unto the Lord is as a thousand years:
2 Peter 3:8
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
God also told Adam and Eve that in the day they partook of the forbidden fruit that they should surely die.
Genesis 2:17
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
But according to the Bible, Adam lived to be 930 years old.
Genesis 5:5
5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
So if Adam was told by the Lord that he would die in the very day that he ate of the fruit, how is it that he lived for 930 years? This is because from the time of the creation up until Adam and Eve partook of the fruit, they were under the reckoning of the Lord's time which is as 2 Peter 3:8 tells us is a thousand of our years which is a day unto the Lord. After Adam and Eve partook of the fruit, they were give their own reckoning of time which was one revolution of the earth on its axis became a day. So according to God's day, Adam did indeed die on the very day that he partook of the fruit, but he also lived 930 years according to this earth's time of reckoning.
Now according to the Book of Revelation, John had a vision of one sitting on the throne in heaven who had a book in his hand which was sealed on the back with seven seals. No man was able to open the sealed book except the Lamb who stood before the throne of God. The Book of Revelation goes on to describe what was seen when each of the seals of the book were opened. In March of 1832, the Prophet Joseph Smith had a revelation that revealed much about the Book of Revelation. Here are some verses regarding the book that was sealed with seven seals:
Doctrine and Covenants 77:6-7
6 Q. What are we to understand by the book which John saw, which was sealed on the back with seven seals? A. We are to understand that it contains the revealed will, mysteries, and the works of God; the hidden things of his economy concerning this earth during the seven thousand years of its continuance, or its temporal existence.
7 Q. What are we to understand by the seven seals with which it was sealed? A. We are to understand that the first seal contains the things of the first thousand years, and the second also of the second thousand years, and so on until the seventh.
In this revelation we learn that the book represents the temporal existence of the earth and that this earth is only to last for 7 thousand years in its temporal state. This means from the fall of Adam and Eve to the time that the earth will be renewed and receive it celestial glory at the end of Christ's millennial reign on earth will be 7000 years. Each of the seals with which the book was sealed contain the things of each of the individual 1000 year periods of the 7000 years. The first seal applies to the first thousand years, the second to second thousand years, and so on through the seven thousand years. So when reading what happens when each seal is opened, we understand that that which is revealed applies to each of the seven thousand year periods of the earth's temporal existence. So, as God created the earth in seven days, so too is the temporal existence of this earth seven days unto the Lord according to his time of reckoning. It is interesting that during the creation of the earth, God rested from his labors on the 7th day. During the temporal existence of this earth God will declare a millennial rest for this earth during the 1000 year millennial reign of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So now the question becomes, where are we in this 7000 year temporal time frame? It is estimated, according to biblical genealogies and such that Adam and Eve fell approximately 4000 years before Christ. Currently it is 2024 years since the birth of Christ. So we know from this that we are around or close to the 6000 year mark or later. According to Revelation 8, when the 7th seal opens, there will be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour. Since the silence is in heaven, some have estimated that the half hour is according to God's time or 1000 years / 48 half hours = 20.8333 of our years. After the half hour of silence the angels begin to sound their trumpets and when the 7th angel sounds his trumpet, Christ will make his second coming. It is then that his millennial reign will begin. I don't know if the Bible genealogies are perfect but this indicates that the time is drawing nigh and we should be on high alert that the day of his coming is close at hand. We all should be preparing for the great day of his coming.
