Mamdani tried showing off at a “men’s day” event

Yes, weightlifters that makes sense perhaps. But this statistic was talking about the average man like the average guy who goes into a gym. This stat is about what men on average were bench pressing 30 years ago compared to today.

Here is the video on it, the video is broke down into chapters and you could go to the chapter that says statistics for further information

That doesn’t surprise me at all, tbh.

We’ve become so sedentary in lifestyle it’s pretty obvious, looking around, that the average man is getting physically weaker.

It just strikes me as interesting that, at the same time, the average serious weightlifters are much, much bigger and stronger than the serious weightlifters of yesteryear.

It seems counterintuitive

At least he’s emphasizing health and physical fitness. We have so many issues in the United States with folks being unhealthy. You got skinny fat you got obesity. To much sugar
I don't think that's what he was doing.
Communists don't usually want people to be healthy.
They want them to die alot.

I think the reason they're bigger and stronger is because of drugs and advancements in nutrition.

Lifting weights doesn't make you any better than people who do not lift weights. Grow up, children.

Probably so.

Plus, I’ve always had the impression that crazy-heavy lifting just wasn’t all that popular back in the day

Obviously it was for you. I had a friend that could do like 560 in HS, he was strong, and then he lifted weights. Nice guy, his family was very religious. He was very strong and bulky. His siblings were not as bulky as he was. I think he was a fat kid before..
But he could put it up. Sometimes if my friend across the street from them was still at work, I'd go hang with that family, they were nice people. Sometimes we'd work out, sometimes we'd do schoolwork. I helped his sisters with some stuff (homework). It never was for me to push as much as he can. It's something I can live with. Cracker gotta accept their limitations.
I tell ya wut, all his family had beautiful souls. I wish I could be more like them instead
of as cynical as I am. Dude never even played sports or wrestled.
Just lifted weights and did schoolwork. Maybe was in band.
I think he was in Glee club. There was no faggotry in that back then. :nono:
He learned how to sing at church. Baritone.

Probably because most guys couldn't do it.
Not to mention the fact that some guys simply aren't built to do bench and squats.

If you're long-limbed you have a disadvantage to guys with short arms and legs.
I've seen guys who's arms were so short that the bar moved about 12 inches from their chest to full extension.

You have everything you need to change, but not motivation.

To change what? I'm never going to bench over 500 lbs. No.
I don't wanna be musclebound enough to do so in the 1st place.
No. I move and strike like lightning. That's what will save your ass.
And I hit hard, and thorough. Yeah, I wouldn't change a thing, tbh.
A little more strength and a lot more skills would be nice, but I'm OK.
I ain't doin' too bad. I bet I could bodyslam you in a way you've never seen and you would be crippled. I know what I know. I can rip chest muscles loose. Like a chimpanzee, but one that knows where pectoral muscles are. I can separate pectoral muscles from a human being's ribcage. With my hand.
I know ways to hurt human beings. It is what it is. :dunno:
I don't wish to employ that knowledge much, but it is something I do have.

You can if you think you can.

This cracker's bones and muscles ain't doin' that. Nope.
I do military press 145 for reps. :dunno:
Sometimes more.
Have not lately because I got deadlift weight on the bar and it's to train for picking people up, and yeah. I ain't gotta be the cock of the walk.
Lemme tell ya, if you are, it makes you a target.
I'm secure in knowing I can lift dat weight out there. It's like 310. 10x.
Good enough to do what I gotta do.
I picked a John Deere up today.

Yeah, but luckily the guys who target the big bouncer-looking guys are usually drunk off their asses, making them easy to handle even if they do happen to have some fighting skill up their sleeves

It was, I preferred to be a heavyweight lifter and not a bodybuilder(1970s).
The 70s were before my time, but I’ve always had the impression that that was when serious powerlifting and bodybuilding took off. I believe the 70s brought us Arnold at his prime, for example

Hence why I specified 50s and 60s as being when it doesn’t seem like it was really a big thing

The lifters from that era just never looked all that impressive in the photos I’ve seen from then, god bless ‘em
