The Democrats haven't seen anything like this since Obama hit the scene. I don't particularly agree with his collectivist ideas but I'm going to tell you right now this guy knows how to enumerate his positions. It's stunning to see a Democrat ( although I don't really believe he is one) in this current field of orange man bad parrots actually embrace a detailed policy and explain how it's actually going to work! I don't care who you are you have to appreciate that approach. He's so far ahead of the field right now who are all completely paralyzed with TDS that they have absolutely no connection anymore with the kitchen table issues of their constituencies. In fact I'm doing Mamdani an Injustice by comparing him to Obama because while Obama had the charisma he didn't have one half of the brains that this guy has.

But I digress....

Here is the policy segment I found interesting!

"The property tax system is unbalanced because assessment levels are artificially capped, so homeowners in expensive neighborhoods pay less than their fair share. The Mayor can fix this by pushing class assessment percentages down for everyone and adjusting rates up, effectively lowering tax payments for homeowners in neighborhoods like Jamaica and Brownsville while raising the amount paid in the most expensive Brooklyn brownstones."

Now you can throw all the standard arguments at this angle up to an including the top 10% pay 70% of the taxes and you're still not going to make any headway. The New York real estate map is about as corrupt a construct as this nation has ever seen codified by state law. That's why Trump's prosecution based on real estate was a complete and total joke. Lol .... There are a lot of liberals living in those New York City brownstones.... Let's see them put their money where their mouth is now that their candidate is aiming straight at their wallets!

This is something I actually agree with him on and it's a point I made myself years ago. Property tax rates shouldn't be capped. Everybody should be paying property tax on the fair market value of their home. Capping rates has distorted the market.

The issue is he also plans on freezing rents on regulated apartments while also making landlords improve maintenance conditions.

And he thinks he can make NYC buses free for everyone while ignoring that the MTA is a NY State controlled Authority.

I tell you this guy's going to demolish everyone in his way. He has broken from the Democrat trend of negativity and 24/7 orange man bad screaming and is actually pushing out a message that people can hear and understand!

I still think he's woefully misinformed as far as the economic science behind the New York money cycle.... The idea of government owned grocery stores sounds like something out of Soylent Green.

But!!! But he's making enough of the common sense arguments that can be absorbed by the average non college educated blue collar worker whether they be Democrat or Republican.... To penetrate the political bias and actually gather support for his movement. This guy is in his early thirties exhibiting political experience that most people don't have until their 50s or 60s.

The guy is an extremist left winger. That won't play well outside of urban enclaves. He may be right about the property tax issue, but most of his ideas are unrealistic pie in the sky that people can see through and would quickly result in destruction if ever implemented.

If you look at the election map, most of the blue collar neighborhoods went to Cuomo.

He won the areas with the young transplants, the AWFLs, and the Gen Z version of hipsters.

If he breaks the law, he should be prosecuted.

NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW, NOT EVEN A MUSLIM SOCIALIST MAYOR OF NYC.

If he interferes with ICE, the is sedition.

Well I guess the brownstoners is are in for a big surprise then.
This calls for an even bigger bag of popcorn kernels then I had originally ordered!

Mamdani is a mole. He is just using the moronic democrat party to infiltrate the government.

What do Property Taxes pay for? Not School Tax, Property Tax.

Enquiring minds...... :dunno:

Yeah that video doesn't show his brighter side. He's playing to a very polarized audience there. They may make the most noise but they are not the majority.

1. Housing and Rent Freeze Housing is at the heart of Mamdani’s campaign. He has called for an immediate rent freeze on all rent-stabilized units and proposes the creation of a Social Housing Development Agency to oversee the construction of 200,000 units of publicly owned, affordable housing over the next decade. To fund these programs, he plans to increase taxes on the city’s wealthiest individuals and biggest corporations. He has also advocated for stronger tenant protections, including an end to no-fault evictions.

2. Taxation and Economic Justice Mamdani wants to introduce a 2% city income tax on those earning over $1 million, alongside increased corporate taxes. These measures, he claims, would generate an estimated $20 billion in revenue. The funds would support a host of social welfare initiatives, including universal childcare, tuition-free public college (CUNY/SUNY), subsidized grocery stores in food deserts, expanded tenant legal support, and fare-free public transit.
He also supports increasing the minimum wage to $30/hour by the year 2030.

3. Public Transit and Infrastructure Mamdani has pledged to make all MTA buses permanently fare-free, citing successful pilot programs that increased ridership. He also supports freezing subway fares and expanding the frequency of both buses and trains. To reduce car dependency and fight climate change, he backs congestion pricing, more protected bike lanes, and stronger infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists.

4. Childcare and EducationHis plan includes city-funded universal childcare and pre-kindergarten programmes. He also wants to make higher education truly accessible by eliminating tuition at public colleges and taxing private universities that currently benefit from major property tax exemptions.

5. Public Safety and Community Well-being Mamdani proposes the establishment of a Department of Community Safety that would prioritize non-policing strategies for public safety—such as housing assistance, mental health services, and community outreach programs. He also plans to increase funding for anti-hate crime initiatives by 800%, with particular attention to combating antisemitism and Islamophobia

.6. Israel–Palestine and Foreign Policy Views Mamdani’s positions on Israel–Palestine have drawn both national attention and significant controversy. A vocal supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, he has described Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide” and introduced resolutions seeking to sever city ties with firms operating in West Bank settlements. He initially declined to sign statements affirming Israel’s identity as a Jewish state, though later clarified that he recognizes Israel’s right to exist and opposes violence against civilians on all sides. While slogans like “Globalize the Intifada” have led to accusations of extremism, Mamdani has repeatedly stated that he does not condone violence and supports peaceful resistance rooted in human rights. In recent interviews, he has explicitly condemned antisemitism and affirmed the fear many Jewish New Yorkers feel in today’s climate.

7. LGBTQ+ Rights and Immigrant Advocacy Mamdani supports expanding access to gender-affirming healthcare, establishing an LGBTQIA+ Affairs Office, and ensuring sanctuary protections for all undocumented New Yorkers. His broader immigration stance includes legal aid, language access, and defending the rights of Muslim and South Asian communities.

A Campaign of Contrast

Mamdani’s insurgent campaign marks a break not just with the Cuomo-era establishment but also with the centrist, managerial politics of Mayor Eric Adams. His platform doesn’t promise moderation—it demands transformation. Yet it’s a high-wire act. While Mamdani has captured the imagination of progressive youth, he now faces a general electorate that includes moderate Democrats, independents, and conservatives wary of his sharp ideological turns—especially on issues like Israel. Whether his vision finds citywide resonance in November remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Zohran Mamdani is no longer just a state assemblyman from Queens. He is the face of a new political vanguard reshaping New York, block by block.

Typical Leftists. Everything is free as taxes go up and Israel and the police are bad.

Oh yes I got that impression very very much. They're very easy to manipulate

To be honest the dislonest and corrupt political sewer That has become New York brought on themselves exactly what they deserve. Nobody should have to pay $5,000 a month for a one-bedroom apartment anywhere on the planet.

The New York liberals have just completely fucked themselves.

Mamdani will find out just how difficult it will be trying to make NYC a socialist utopia.

If he raises taxes on the Brownstoners he won't be in office for long....

Yeah..... It looks like he's going to get elected.
I wonder how long it will be before they set him up?

You can see his plan to power in just the first item in the list.

He means to create ghetto housing for those who think the world owes them a living at no cost and plans on using that program as a means of permanent reelection. As with all housing for the poor and welfare housing, they will quickly become ghettos that will be epic centers of crime, drug usage, child abuse, and lawlessness.

I'm sure you can see the same playbook in all the other campaign items on the list.
