No....they're toxic because they're toxic
Some food additives that are banned in Europe but not in the United States include:
Potassium bromate
A suspected carcinogen that's used to strengthen dough in baked goods. The International Agency for Research on Cancer considers it a possible human carcinogen.
Azodicarbonamide (ADA)
A whitening agent in cereal flour and dough conditioner that breaks down into cancer-causing chemicals during baking.
Sudan dyes
Also known as Azo dyes, these are thought to cause genetic defects and allergic skin reactions. They are often added to brightly colored spices like chili powders, curries, and paprika.
Aspartame
Studies by the Cesare Maltoni Cancer Research Center of the European Ramazzini Foundation of Oncology and Environmental Sciences (ERF) claim it increases several malignancies in rodents.
Potassium sorbate
A preservative used to suppress molds and yeasts in foods, wines, and personal care products. In-vitro studies suggest it is toxic to DNA and has a negative affect on immunity.
Tip of the iceberg
Okay, the problem with these studies are that the amount they give these rodents is the equivalent to feeding a truckload of these chemicals to a human.
