Make America Cruel Again?

Years ago I saw army trucks patrolling the streets in Mexico and I thought "thank goodness we don't have that in the US!" Now we do. Are we becoming a crueler country?
What we have now is a correcting of the disastrous result of open borders. It is temporary. Once the illegals are deported, there won't be a need for army trucks patrolling our streets.

It’s a known fact that the countries that have a large public military presence “monitoring” its citizens are your shittier countries like poor 3rd world countries or authoritarian societies like China or Russia.

Do we want to be as shitty as them?
Hmmm…weird huh? Have you noticed that our military is only patrolling the streets of cities full of thirdworlders? Coincidence?
Are you sure you want a nation full of thirdworlders?

If the only monitoring is happening in border regions, I don't think that's comparable to the countries you're referencing. The fact of the matter is that cartels wield a lot of influence in this country, and countering that will require some level of monitoring and military intervention in the long run.
