On The Way Home To Earth
The USA spent a trillion dollars and 20 years arming and training a bunch of people who did not even want to fight! All the while there was and still is an army of fighters in the Panjshir Valley just 90 miles of Kabul.

Why didn't the USA arm and train THESE people? Slipped under the radar? Not on the approved freedom fighter list like the Kurds?

Without Joe Biddum's help, these people are still fighting to hold their country against the Taliban.

Make you wonder, if we had supported these people in the first place, the war might have ended 10 years ago with the Taliban defeat.

The USA mission was apparently designed to fail, our war on terror designed to fail, either that or our intelligence is run by idiots.

They are not down with feminism, anal flags, or being told their culture is evil. White people respond to that, not based Muslims.

The government whether it's Dem or Repub is mainly a bunch of disconnected people pretending they know what they are doing. They spend tons of cash on things without even knowing the results. One would think if the right training techniques were used over 20 years you would have a great group of fighters.
They most likely set themselves up for failure initially with the wrong type of recruitments and just had a bunch of people showing up for paychecks... and then probably frustrated contractors just showing up for their paychecks all the while the government was probably getting glowing reports because no one wanted to get in trouble. Beurocracy 101.

So you wish to ignore the hundreds of thousands of regular Afghan soldiers who have died fighting over the last 20 years.

The sad thing now is , these guys are going to be surrounded, probably up against Taliban, ISIS, Alqaeda, and others with no air support. Hopefully they can manage to rally other Afghans who hate the Taliban.
Afghanistan has a pop of around 39 million people and the Taliban is roughly 75 thousand fighters? It seems as though it should be possible for the populace to drive them out but I'm guessing the vast majority of those 39 million are peaceful unarmed and don't get fighting.

The Afghan Army were already an army. You would think at most, it might take a YEAR to train them, mainly on how to use OUR equipment.

The fighters in Panjshir have been holding off the Taliban for years and years WITHOUT any help from the USA.

They had some really good special forces but I believe most of their elite fighters got slaughtered when they were isolated without ammunition and forced to surrender.

I'm sure they have some who can fight, but its not that whole 300,000. They still need more time.
The reason the U.S. has such a good military is because they build on top of a history of discipline, morale and expectations, it could never happen over night in a 20 year period.

They must be terrible at communications, or logistics perhaps? maybe they were well trained in the individual sense with equipment but as a large cohesive group able to respond to multiple problems, probably not so much, is my guess.
