A good article for some conservatives to think about.

The Gipper's Glass Slipper
By Jonah Goldberg, Townhall
October 12, 2007

Ronald Reagan is dead, and he’s not coming back.

I wish more conservatives could come to grips with this relatively simple fact. We are now in something like the fifth round of the pin-the-tail-on-the-next-Reagan game, and it’s getting old. Catering to the conservative base, the GOP presidential candidates keep trying to put on the Reagan mantle the way Cinderella’s ugly stepsisters tried to cram their dogs into her glass slipper. Not gonna happen.

Jonah Goldberg is a Jew. He wants to bash Reagan because Reagan is associated with pre-neocon conservatism in America, which most of us want back. Mr. Goldberg does not want that, because he wants war on Iran. That is his motivation.

Maybe it would be easier to swallow if you consider Ronald Reagan our JFK.

I don’t think Goldberg was thinking about Israel or Iran when he wrote this article, but rather he was addressing carping conservatives who are threatening to stay home on election day because none of the current crop of candidates are Ronald Reagan. If there is a "Ronald Reagan" out there, he/she chose not to enter the 2008 presidential race, so you have to make do with what options you are given. To me none of the Republican options are as bad as the specter of a socialist President Hillary Clinton.

Contrary to what you state, the article makes clear that Goldberg was not bashing Ronald Reagan in any way. He was just pointing out Reagan was not always 100% conservative in some of the decisions he made.
