Long range shooting...

I was shooting Valkyrie out to 700 yards ( almost got kicked off the Range because I liked shooting the slightly moving wind socks as it was more challenging than the fairly large Steel target

Hmmmm, yes, there are people who can make that shot, but as with all of these long range guys, I want to see an unedited video.
If you want to see how hard it really is watch archived episodes to Top Shot. In several episodes they did long range shooting against stationary and moving targets.

At a distance of 7 football fields, It would have to be dead calm for me to even try. Make that shot in a 20MPH crosswind, and let's talk.

In almost all of these instances, the shooters cheat - bipods, sandbags, benches, etc.
Try it from a shooting mat, on the grass, with nothing but a sling and a jacket, fighting the wind off Lake Erie.

:)

Even military snipers use aids. Hitting a man-sized target at eight hundred to a thousand meters is a crapshoot.

No it's not. If you have the proper training it's relatively easy. Hell, when my eyes actually functioned well, 1000 yard shots were done with open sights from the prone position.

At a thousand yards the average person can't even see a man-sized target without optics.

Quigley wasn't Quigley, it was a movie.
Billy Dixon made a shot of over 1000 yards at the Battle of Adobe Walls in the 1870's.

Just because YOU aren't aware of historical marksman doesn't mean we aren't.

If they are hidden I agree. But if they are standing? No problem.
