As a liberal thinking about the politics of the next 4 years and elections and what have you, I’m heartened that Trump seems to be fulfilling the prophecy. Bush league generals, a SoS from an oil company of all places, and a cabinet of men and women who seem to give a new meaning to aloof.

None of this will matter in the long run but its good from the perspective of politics that he isn’t leaning on the brightest stars in the GOP to compensate for his obvious shortcomings in domestic policy, foreign policy, military capabilities, and pretty much everywhere one could imagine.

Sure. Here's my point:

Let's say things go well under Trump, even VERY well. Most likely minorities would enjoy improvements in their lives as well. The question at that point will be whether they give Trump and the GOP credit for any improvements in their lives or not.

The Democrats have been entrenched with minorities for one helluva long time. So it may be that the relationship will take some time to loosen, or, to your point, many minority voters will decide that the Democrats had their chance and blew it.

Time will tell.
