Liberal Katy Tur: “US has almost no middle-class” WTF?

Oh, and it's not like the U.S. has always had a vibrant middle class either.
Katy Turd is a typical liberal/socialist who promotes class warfare and victimization. The United States has a vibrant middle-class. What an idiot.
MSNBC's Katy Tur challenged on air after claiming America has 'almost no middle class'

The greater increases of wealth for the top has to come from somewhere. The middle class is becoming poorer to give the rich that extra boost.

It is coming from somewhere. It's coming from you........not just you, but all of us. We willingly send our money to the top and do it every single week if not several times a week. If you want to stop money from going to the top, quit sending them your hard earned money. Simple as that.

People gotta live.

The economy is supposedly booming, so ... where's the wage growth? You'll have your "chosen ones" at every company that get one promotion after the next, but for most people, the only way they get a real cost of living adjustment, let alone promotion, is by switching companies.

The economy is (was?) booming, but only for the owners and executives. For workers, it's pretty much the same ol' shit.

The US Civil Right Commission say illegal aliens are depressing wages 99-118 billion dollars a year. But you commies have no interest in doing anything about that.

.

How do you figure? I don't give a fuck if illegal immigrants get deported. But let's not pretend that there aren't plenty of businesses reliant on that labor force, particularly down south.

That doesn't discount the fact that because they are part of our labor force, they influence American wages.

The United States added 700,000 new millionaire households in 2017, according to a new report from the Spectrem Group.

The U.S. now has close to 11 million millionaires, up 6 percent from 2016, according to data from the Spectrem Group’s Market Insights Report 2018.

The report also found that there were 172,000 households with a net worth higher than $25 million.

Only in America could that many additional people become millionaires in a year. The American dream is alive and well.

It has a weakening middle class with more wealth concentrated at the very top every year. Wage stagnation, combined with rising cost of living also has changed what middle class actually means. Used to be a job in a factory (high school diploma) with a stay at home mom was enough to live a middle class lifestyle. Now? Good luck staying above poverty level.

Social mobility has also decreased. The rich get richer. The poor stay poor. And the middle class, all things considered, is looking increasingly like the lower middle class.

That's great, but what I'm saying is, for the people who spend most of their money on their bills and necessities, finding extra money to invest is pretty hard, and let's be real; wages haven't increased all that much considering the tax cuts and the booming market. If you already had a good job and are frugal and smart with your money, I'm sure you could benefit (certainly not on account of your employer's generosity, though). If you don't, or you're still early in your career, or just have high living expenses... it's not like companies were really throwing all that tax cut money back into their workforce. They were buying back stocks. It's well known and documented.

Why do you think that doesn't happen more often? Republicans had all this time to crack down in a significant way. Instead, they decided to troll people over a stupid-ass wall.

It's because they don't actually want to get rid of illegals. They like illegals. They do jobs that other people don't want to do, and generally for cheaper.

Just because the middle class benefited slightly in a single year (not even considering all the lost revenue from the tax cuts and the pitfalls that may come with that down the road) doesn't mean there isn't a wealth disparity problem in this country, or that the middle class isn't significantly weaker than it once was. So while it's not accurate to say there is almost no middle class, it's really just an over-dramatization of a real issue.

The top tax rate was 90% in the 50s, and the average CEO made 20 times the average worker's wage. Now they make 361 times the average workers wage, and the gap between the super rich and the rest of us is vast. The economy was booming in the 50s and the 60s.

It was booming because of 90% tax rates?

So while it's not accurate to say there is almost no middle class, it's really just an over-dramatization of a real issue.

I've been middle-class all of my life. I was born in the 60s into a middle-class family. I was raised as a middle-class child in the 60's and 70's. I was a middle-class adult in the 80's, 90's and still middle-class today.

I think we are much better as middle-class than anytime in my life. I have several lifelong friend and family members that advanced from middle-class to upper middle-class and even some that have become wealthy. This is something that was an anomaly many years ago. The opportunity simply wasn't there as it is today.

I don't look at wealth as a disparity. What I see today is more people transferring their wealth to the top than ever before. And why not? There are more things to buy today, there are more services that make our life convenient, and hell.........even our lottery games produce millionaires by the day. Where do they get that money from? Yes, us little people looking for the American dream.

For those that complain of this so-called disparity, my suggestion is that if you want to stop money flowing to the top, quit giving them your money. After all, each and every one of us send our money to the top several times a week. So of course you will have more money going to the top.

It was booming in spite of 90% tax rates. It can again too.

In Texas, lawmakers don't mess with employers of undocumented workers

Have any republicans even put forward any legislation to go after employers? All I seem to be able to find are articles talking about how they have no real interest in it (because some of their donors would be adamantly opposed to the idea, in both parties). Can you find a reputable source that shows that republicans made a real, sincere effort, but were shot down by senate democrats? My company uses E-Verify, but we have employees in almost all 50 states.

The federal laws are already on the books, it's up to them to enforce. Oops, forgot the link.

I don't think there is a mandate that employers use E-Verify nation-wide. Just in specific states. That's a pretty easy way to cut down on illegal immigration that they haven't really taken very seriously. They'd rather have the wall that won't actually do a whole lot, I guess. Definitely looks more imposing to the average American.

I think the way democrats have treated illegal immigration as a joke is abhorrent, but let's not pretend republicans are fighting the good fight. They're all bluster, lots of talk and little action.

From what I understand E-verify can take up to 4 months to get an answer. It's not like the instant firearms background check. Small employers can't wait that long to hire. The system needs to be made more responsive.

You guys always say a wall won't do any good without bringing up comparisons. Barriers have worked everywhere they're tried. They have worked here, they work in Israel, they work in Hungary, everywhere. How are you so easily lied to by the Democrats and then parrot their lie in USMB?

Over 80% of our border patrol believes a barrier is not only needed, but will make their job much easier and more productive. Will it stop all illegals, no it won't, but it will stop most of them.
