No group is a monolith, there are very happy childless and single women and there are truly miserable married mothers. I am not saying that. What I am saying the relationship between men and women was more defined.

They were indeed very different in that they were much, much, much worse. Women had very limited freedom and were essentially just the property of their husband. Gender roles were more rigid preventing both girls and boys from being who they want to be whereas marriage was more about duty rather than love. Divorce was not an option and abusing your wife was accepted.

And frankly, expecting women to go to work, take care of the family and take care of her husband was too much.

Being a parent is about cooperation. A mother should not be expected to do all and beyond.

Something had to give and did. Racial and sexual preferences is a different story although African American families have suffered in a huge way from the great society agendas.

i tell you there will be an endgame. We live off of foreign nations manufacturing at cheap prices for our social agendas and need to get manufacturing to return as the wages in real terms keeps declining in the employment we have. And that eventually will affect our social programs as personal responsibility will increase and lower taxation.
