I was wondering when I'd see the first use of the twisted rationale, "everything trump does is supported by the people because a majority voted for him." I just saw it on another thread.

When people voted their pocketbooks with misdirected anger over inflation do you really think it was a tacit approval of trump seeking to bypass the "advise and consent" function the Senate traditionally performs and allow him to name cabinet appointees without confirmation hearings? Do you think they said to themselves before voting, "I'm completely on board with trump's violation of the law by not signing the ethics pledge he is required to sign."

I mean, you folks do realize a number of down ballot issues in various states saw voters oppose trump's position and oppose candidates he endorsed, right? You can't be so silly as to think frustration with inflation reflects support for his entire agenda, do you?

So they next time you have the urge to defend some reckless, illegal, unethical thing Don proposes by saying the majority is with him, resist the urge.

You're an insurrectionist.

Wow, the childish rationalization for loss has really set in.

Which stage of grief do you think you are in?

The election is over. Your side lost.

We will now do things the Trump way until 2028.

Ask some of your friends if you can get a line of copeium.

I assume you're not holding your breath.

When he says or does something nasty or unethical or reckless, they celebrate it. They want all the norms torn down, and he's their wrecking ball.

They appear to think that ripping everything down will make them less miserable.

Sixty-five percent of Americans said they want abortion to remain legal in most cases, according to the exit polls conducted last week. Fifty-six percent of Americans prefer that undocumented immigrants get a chance to apply for legal status, compared with 40 percent who want them deported, as Trump has proposed. Just 35 percent approve of the Republican-dominated, Trump-aligned U.S. Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade.

Authoritarian rule dictates there can be no authority other than the executive. Checks and balances are for chumps.
Checks and balances do not refer to political parties.

Please explain.

Yes of course they support legalized immigration. That was never in question. It was the lawless illegal invasion that this admin allowed in that people are mad about. Nobody wanted that except dems in power. Sickening. Deport these illegals and THEN they can petition to come in legally.

Abortion is a state issue, not federal.

The Immigration Hub would never lie about Immigration.

Wow, the childish rationalization for loss has really set in.
All the exit polls show the key factor in the election was inflation. Not social wedge issues like the trans debate, gun control, the environment, or abortion. On the last three issues the majority stands with Dems.

When framed as a choice, voters prefer a pathway to citizenship over mass deportation by a large margin. Providing a pathway to citizenship remains the far more popular approach to handling undocumented immigrants. On behalf of the Immigration Hub, Global Strategy Group and BSP Research recently conducted a poll in battleground states and found that by a 22-point margin, voters prefer a pathway to citizenship over mass deportation. Among the Hispanic sample, that margin is 64 points and even a majority of Republican Hispanics prefer the pathway to citizenship approach.

These findings are validated by a recent Pew Research poll, showing similar results. Pew Research found very similar numbers in their April 2024 poll showing that 59% of voters believe that undocumented immigrants “should be allowed to stay in the country legally, if certain requirements are met” vs. 41% who say “they should not be able to stay in the country legally.”

News flash for you.

Exit polls get lied to, often.

There was only ONE poll that mattered.

The fact that the last year managed to get inflation under control does NOT alter the reality that the inflation that occurred because of Biden's policies has left prices of everything at least 22% higher then before Biden took office.

True. I just wanted to establish the majority of people do not support his agenda. Their votes reflect anger over inflation. Ancillary issues he ran on were not consequential.
