One state I am damn glad I don't live in.
They will just jack up the fees for everything else along with the price of books and lab manuals...If New York makes public colleges and universities tuition-free, mark my words, state after state will follow.
a young physician who had recently graduated medical school from Louisiana had a student debt of THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS.
how dare anyone defend such a system that robs the youth out of our youth?
a 55-year old man i know from New York called Anthony Sacamano has been payin off his student-debt loan for 25 years but is more in debt today than when he first took the loan! he's worried now that his social security checks will be garnished in order to pay off that debt!
how crazy is that?

It's crazy! People don't understand basic interest and borrow much more than they should.
End government involvement in college lending. Of course that means idiots wouldn't be able to borrow $200K to get a degree in African America Studies. Or in Feminist Queer Theory.

People who take out reasonable loans to get useful degrees are just fine.
Idiots who take out massive loans for useless degrees are wasting their (and our) money.
Throwing ever larger chunks of government money at the issue will just raise the cost further.
