Right now, the biggest obstacle, is the cost and the fact that they dont work. But the wind and solar energy companies believe they can overcome the fact that they dont work by building more, and building bigger. The only real problem, is that we can not spend that much money in the next 50 years. The problem is that the cost is $100's of trillions of dollars. It is a never ending heavy industry of chemicals and toxic waste. So much so, that the cost has to spread across a hundred years.

In Germany, wind energy output is going down because the Wind Turbines can not be replaced as fast as they are failing.
