The current wording of academics within the profession, doesn't mean that as these things are studied further won't be redesignated in the future. In fact, the sentence that so many of the lazy left count on, as seen here from the current DSM, circa 2013, also goes much deeper. For instance, it also says:

" The condition is associated with clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning."

Showing that the professional community does consider this as a "clinically significant impairment"....IOW, a mental condition.

It's the opinion of almost the entire professional community that trans identities are real. Where the may disagree is on treatment. And where is this is link to the professionals who agree with you that it is a mental illness? Let's see their science.

As for the science on what it feels like to be a woman is sort of an elementary school child's understanding of what is at play here. When humans are conceived it's genes that determine your development. For instance the Y chromosome is what triggers development of male sexual organs rather than female ones. Some people's genes and hormone production produce both male and female sex organs. These are the intersexed. They don't fit neatly into either male or female. Genes and hormone production doesn't just affect genital development however, they also affect all aspects of your development including brain physiology and morphology. Males and females have different brains that operate somewhat differently. It's from this operation that your identity emerges from and so it isn't surprising to us that when we look at the brains of trans people we see brain physiology and morphology that is shifted towards the sex they identify with.
