I just discovered this post. Thanks for the info, rw. I actually saw a replay of that kick that evening on the news, while waiting in line to get Bobby Hull's autograph at a local furniture store, where a table had been set up for Bobby and a few others. They had a television on close to where things were set up. I remember my dad and I watching that replay. We couldn't believe Tom's kicking foot was actually just half a foot with a special shoe fitted on. I got Bobby's autograph on a hockey stick, which was unfortunately "lost" during one of our moves across the country. We were sure one of the movers stole it, but we couldn't prove it. I sometimes wonder what that stick would've been worth today. It's probably best I DON'T know. And RIP, Mr. Dempsey, a most unique NFL player.
