It's incredible how the left never learns from this mistake. Every time a type of wealth tax has been attempted it's backfired. The billionaire / trillionaire class that has been California's golden geese for decades are now fleeing the state in droves due to the wealth tax that was passed in the state. Spielberg is the latest to join Mark Zuckerberg, David Sacks, and others. When France tried something similar over ten years ago, implementing a 75% tax rate on incomes over € 1 million and it resulted in the wealthy fleeing the country, cramped investment, and ultimately resulted in a € 14 billion shortfall in state revenue.

The new wealth tax is working exactly as intended. Its letting billionaires know they aren't welcome in Cali. And the great thing is the Golden State is achieving the results desired even before the law is actually enacted.

The same people will virtue signal to others the first opportunity they get. The moment they are subjected to investing real skin in the game like the commoners experience they turn and find their own greener pastures. The best example of this was when the illegals were sent to the Hamptons by Texas and Florida governments.

The natives there living the dream wandered out from their mansions and exalted the illegals some plastic celebration of their mere presence in America. When asked why these poor souls could not reside there in one of their nice homes or hotels the individuals of great moral superiority claimed they didnt have the resources to help them there but happily virtue signaled for the camera as they waved them an upbeat "goodbye and good luck (and quietly good riddance)."

There are too few mensches in the West but a hell of a lot of people pretending they are. When facing the same struggle others must face their true nature rises to the surface.

When Spielberg flees California, you know the state has tanked. I guess soon there will be no more billionaires or rich tycoons making their money in the state upon which most of the state and Hollywood were built. Gavin will be chasing after people soon for money just because they /used/ to live in California.

I also think this may be a foreshadow of events soon to hit NYC.

Such a simple decision…Even my executives have bought homes in AZ, NV and MT all states we are incorporated in…Like myself they’re all living more than six months outside of the disgusting shithole of Mexifornia…It’s a real simple ‘workaround’.

I'm not defending Newsome as I see him as someone very similar to Trump but I will note that Zuckerberg has houses in many places. He still owns in California. He simply bought another one and it was framed as if he is fleeing California.

Why wasn't he fleeing when he purchased property in Hawaii?
