Hunter Kozak, the student who was debating with Charlie Kirk when he was hsot on Wednesday, spoke out about how the point he was trying to make was: "People have pointed to the irony—that the point I was trying to make was how peaceful the left was, right before he got shot. That only makes sense if we stay peaceful."

The Wall Street Journal confirmed Kozak’s identity with two other attendees who were in line with him at the event. Videos show that moments before the shooting Kirk was asked, “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?” Kozak, 29, said he was five feet from Kirk when he asked the question.

Seconds later, Kirk was fatally shot. On Thursday, Kozak said he was not doing well. “Political violence is a disgusting, disturbing activity,” he said. “What happened to him is a tragedy.”
