Where the wild things are
Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Economics and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett are examining the possibility of introducing a bill stating that any peace treaty with the Palestinians will be brought to a national referendum before being ratified by the Knesset, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Sunday.

The initiative was discussed a few days ago during a meeting between the two politicians. Bennett, the leader of the Habayit Hayehudi party, has already started working toward obtaining a majority for the bill in the cabinet, but it appears that without Lapid's support it has no chance of being approved. Lapid did not rule out the idea of a referendum, but said he would consult with other members of his Yesh Atid faction before announcing his final decision on the matter.

The Palestinians will too have a referendum. IOW, there never will be a negotiated peace. Until the world decides to enforce international law, there will be no peace.

Notice how he keeps changing his posts? First he claims there is nothing to " negotiate" the. He refers to a " negotiated peace"

No. Simply that any agreement which may cause a rift in the people of israel, is doomed to fail.they do not wish to see it happening. God bless them!

What do you think a democracy is. It is a form of government where the majority rules. Ultimately you will have rifts, learning to work with those rifts without splintering is the essence of a democracy !!!

Yes, and what is the best way to achieve democracy ideals? isn't it asking the people directly what they want?

I believe that referendum is democracy in it's purest form! don't you agree?

Please let the Palestinians have a referendum, why not. And honest one, transparent, where Hamas doesn't force anyone to vote for any choice directly or non-directly.

I'm all for it. It will show that the Palestinians have their opinions counted so we can learn what they truly want.:clap2:

You seem to be seeking unanimity and that isn't going to happen. Democracy is a messy thing, always has been always will be.
