Labor Department Moves To Reverse trump Rules That Narrow Worker Protections

This is good news for the workers of America.

It's nice to see that we have a government that helps the workers of our nation.

This dovetails nicely with Sleepy Joe's pandering to the La Cosa Nostra with his "PRO-Act" with allows business agents to shake down workers for dues money in all 50 states, abolishing the right to work. Working people will learn that they have to "kick up" to work in America, and "independent contractor" status will no longer be available to save themselves from the caporegimes who will be extorting them.

The independent contractor status will still exist. But it will only exist for actual independent contractors. The worker protections that were removed by the Trump administration made it easier for an employer to call the workers independent contractors, which removes many of the mandatory benefits, such as worker comp and overtime pay.

It would be nice Biden would re-instate Obama's EO on overtime for low wage "managers", but any changes have to be improvements the crap that Trump did to working Americans.

Technically speaking, sure, "independent contractor" status might still exist.

But if an IC comes within the purview of a union business agent and the independent contractor isn't kicking up, he's going to be cracked down upon.

Working Americans got a pay increase with Trump, but Biden is going to do away with that.

Exactly. Any pay increase will have to be kicked up to the Union Bosses and then Sleepy Joe gets his cut from the bosses' end.

So the fuck what, why do you want to deny the liberty of an individual to enter into an employment contract they feel will benefit them. Oh I know, you fucking commies want to control every aspect of everyone's lives. If I want to work for a buck a day as a contract employee, it's none of the fucking governments business.

.

This needed to happen.

Yes it did.

Too many protections and rights that workers used to have, have been taken away.

I'm so glad we have a president who is at least trying to do something about it.

What "protection' or "right" are you referencing? Just because fewer employees are choosing to kick up a part of their paychecks to union bosses that ever before doesn't mean they don't have a RIGHT to do that.

A contractor is not covered under the employer's workers comp and liability insurance, in most cases. They are also not covered by any health insurance or other benefits. In most industries they make more, so it is a trade off. They also have to provide their own training and equipment. The customer for these contractors can (and usually does) require workers comp, liability insurance, ect be carried by the contractors.

What were the rules, what did the Trump admin change, and what is Biden's proposed changes to those....

Do they not teach journalism anymore? and does MSN not hire people that now anything about journalism?

Lost man hours due to accidents are an absolute double LOSER for business. Trump just didn't know that.
