Working people will learn that they have to "kick up" to work in America, and "independent contractor" status will no longer be available to save themselves from the caporegimes who will be extorting them.

Working people will learn that they have to "kick up" to work in America, and "independent contractor" status will no longer be available to save themselves from the caporegimes who will be extorting them.
The independent contractor status will still exist. But it will only exist for actual independent contractors. The worker protections that were removed by the Trump administration made it easier for an employer to call the workers independent contractors, which removes many of the mandatory benefits, such as worker comp and overtime pay.
This is good news for the workers of America.

Technically speaking, sure, "independent contractor" status might still exist.
But if an IC comes within the purview of a union business agent and the independent contractor isn't kicking up, he's going to be cracked down upon.

So the fuck what, why do you want to deny the liberty of an individual to enter into an employment contract they feel will benefit them. What "protection' or "right" are you referencing? Just because fewer employees are choosing to kick up a part of their paychecks to union bosses that ever before doesn't mean they don't have a RIGHT to do that.

What "protection' or "right" are you referencing? Just because fewer employees are choosing to kick up a part of their paychecks to union bosses that ever before doesn't mean they don't have a RIGHT to do that.
A contractor is not covered under the employer's workers comp and liability insurance, in most cases. They are also not covered by any health insurance or other benefits. In most industries they make more, so it is a trade off. They also have to provide their own training and equipment. The customer for these contractors can (and usually does) require workers comp, liability insurance, ect be carried by the contractors.

No doubt about that. Dealing with Big Labor bosses costs money. Paying off the goombas can be expensive, and it has to come from somewhere. Stagnant wages are to be expected in industries when Big Labor wets their beaks.
