LA Mayor Karen Bass cut fire department funding by $17.6M — months before wildfires turned city into hellscape

One chaparral plant, ceanothus, has leaves that are coated with flammable resins. Ceanothus seeds require intense heat for germination, and its roots are specially adapted to enable the plant to grow in areas that were recently burned. Other chaparral shrubs also contain flammable oils and resins in their leaves.Jan 8, 2018

Wildland Fire in Chaparral: California and Southwestern United States

Government in California is a self-perpetuating power base for connected losers. I doubt if 5 % of those people would be considered competent. Bass looked like the buffoon she is while being questioned by the media at the airport. These type of people gotta go in the interest of good government.

Her role has mayor during this city’s major crisis upon returning from a trip and telling constituents to visit a website. That’s it. She really inspires leadership here.

You stupid jackass, that is about 2% of the budget, not 3/1000ths%. You are only off by about 66,000% the actual figure or about 600X.
Where did you learn math, at the Oxnard Academy for the Disadvantaged?!
Nooooooooooo! It’s like 0.00003% if her budget!!!

The horror the horror.

Well, no one should be surprised. If you are surprised, you are part of the problem. Wake up!

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faced scorching criticism Wednesday as it was revealed she cut the city's Fire Department budget by $17.6 million ahead of this week's devastating fires – and was traveling thousands of miles away in Ghana when the flames broke out.
The budget cut was the second largest in Bass' 2024-25 fiscal budget, city figures show – and it wasn't even the gutting she wanted.
If she had it her way, the LAFD budget would have been slashed by $23 million.
...
"Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is on a taxpayer-funded trip to Africa as part of a Biden administration presidential delegation WHILE HER CITY IS BURNING TO THE GROUND," wrote America First Works president Ashley Hayek on X.

Great idea, cut funding from a draught area in California. She should be up for the Einstein of the year award. She probably needed that money to fund her DEI trip to Ghana because, of course, DEI is more important than your city burning down.

Not only did she cut the fire budget, she was COINCIDENTALLY. . . . out of town for the tragedy?
