Krazy Kamala Harris to call for federal spending to raise teacher salaries

This sounds great when you’re running for President. But almost impossible to accomplish when you’re actually President. Spoken like a true politician.

TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS! TEACHERS NOT WALLS!

Education is not a federal function and teachers aren't federal employees, so she is just pandering as usual. While I do think teachers in some places (like Las Vegas) are underpaid, that's on the local governments to resolve. Just like every other government institution, many school districts are rife with waste they can redirect to the classroom.
Basic Education should be a federal priority.
If well trained teachers help the country achieve equality for all, including education and job opportunities that education represents, then that should be a national priority.
It is a state issue. Remember no child left behind and the new fucked up math system? Feds need to get out of the way. States need to figure out their priorities. Do they want to build massive new buildings when the old ones worked fine with a few upgrades? Kansas has become top heavy with administration. The redundant admins are stealing from the teachers with the blessing of the union.

Teacher bashers are those that who won't quit their jobs to fix the problem..instead, they just whine about it and never ever ask the kids to step up. we get it, you don't expect the kids to tgive any effort whatsoever.Typical. We want doers not criers. Get in the classroom and show us how it's done.

I have been a member of multiple school boards. Complete waste of time. The boards were far more interested in who was getting what contract in our closed door meetings.

You people just don’t get it. Obama started this with the takeover of college loans. The Dems want everyone to be in these socialist madrassas, otherwise known as schools, in order to totallly brainwash our young people. It is already working. Just look at the polls about socialism and young people. It is literally an anti American movement and pay raises for teachers is just a way to buy off and silence teachers. To be fair, it might not all be the teachers fault, the administrations are so left leaning they may set up the curriculum, but teachers who will not speak up about the dumbing down, the lack of real education in their schools are not looking out for their students. Being silent about this travesty does not warrant a raise.

Blaming Obama...blaming teachers. Same old empty rhetoric. My 4 kids went to a public school and received a great education. They all went to college and got a degree. It also helped I gave them NO other options upon graduation. It really paid off. I saw zero so called "indoctrination'.

Unfortunately, unlike you, my opinions are fact based, not anecdotal. I am happy for your children and wish them success, but education in the us has been going downhill for decades. That is a fact, including that like healthcare, we spend more money for education than most developed countries. One only has to look at AOC to see firsthand the ignorance and brainwashing cultivated by our so-called education system.

You never once mentioned the responsibility of kids, nor did you mention it's the job, number one job of parents to ensure they help their kids to learn. You want to improve things? Fix those two things first and foremost. Then you had also be willing to volunteer at schools. Take a few days off from the job and volunteer to help fix the problem. Next, squelch the massive number of parents who threaten to raise heck the very second a teacher tries to discipline the kid. Even good teachers aren't allowed to discipline unruly kids. I know of 3 one time t ime dedicated teachers who left the profession because of the pay and behaviors they were forced to deal with. They went into the private sector and increased their pay immediately...for alot less stress. And some of those behaviors we're from parents.

Never think you know enough not to listen because in the grand scheme of things non of us really know shit. Even Ken Jennings eventually lost.

I’m getting better as I get older but still have a ways to go. It takes a lot of effort to be a good listener. Especially for a spaz like me

GREAT TEACHERS ARE GREAT LISTENERS!

from Politico:

"Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris proposed spending $315 billion over 10 years to boost teacher pay. The policy proposal is by far the most aggressive and expansive education proposal among the 2020 field. The California senator’s campaign said it would give the average teacher in America a 23 percent increase in base pay. Her proposal would represent a significant expansion of federal spending on education and would be the largest federal investment in teacher pay in U.S. history. "

Obviously then, teaching is not in your future.

Kamala Harris to call for federal spending to raise teacher salaries

In America, public school teachers are paid about $13,000 a year less than other college graduates. That could be mortgage payments or the cost of groceries for a family for a year. It’s a national failure. It’s time we give America’s teachers a raise.

College graduates is too broad of a category to make a comparison.

Engineer majors skew the value up, and comparative lesbian literature majors skew it down.
