The soon-to-be Mayor of NYC has announced his intention to kill New York's venerable elite schools because basically too few POC's qualify to go there. Is this a good thing? It seems to me that every decent school district in the country has programs for kids who are identified as high intelligence or conspicuously talented, and they are great assets to the districts, regardless of the demographic groups represented.
Further down in this article, the pundit goes into the fiscal and moral disaster that is the Baltimore city schools. It consumes an incredible amount of money for its size, and the only ones who benefit are the thousands of worthless bureaucrats who are hired and the teachers' unions, which put out the worst-educated kids in the State of Maryland. Fortunately, the Leftist governments at the city and state level will keep increasing funding for these dead-end schools because the unions are so valuable to their electoral goals.
Methinks a Trump-like governor, brought in from the private sector with no further political ambitions, might be the only solution to what ails Maryland and its school system. But would the natives elect him/her?
In every situation, everybody knows what needs to be done. But the radical left always thwarts that.
1. Smash and grab
Obvious solution: Let the owners arm themselves and shoot the hell out of the perps
Leftwing 'solution': Don't try to impede the smash and grabbers.
2. Violent felonies by blacks
Obvious solution: Imprison their asses. Lock the door, and throw away the key
Leftwing 'solution': Let them go and do not charge them with felonies.
3. Hiring
Obvious solution: Hire the best and most qualified people
Leftwing 'solution': Look to race and other DEI metrics ahead of or instead of qualifications
4 Energy:
Obvious solution: Open more coal plants. Fossil fuels are the cheapest and most efficient energy source.
Leftwing "solution" Shut down all fossil fuels. Introduce inferior energy sources that are more expensive and don't work.
5 Economics:
Obvious solution: The tried and true. Cut taxes, remove regulation. Capitalism is by far the best proven economics system
Leftwing 'solution'. Raise taxes. Impose regulation on business. Treat business as the enemy. Impose socialism which has never in the history of the world been shown to work.
6. Wages:
Obvious solution: Let company and worker determine the right wage based on market factors
Leftwing 'solution': Impose minimum wages which causes fewer overworked employees and freezes less-able employees out of jobs, also causing prices to rise.
7: Work hours;
Obvious solution: Let an employee work as many hours as he and the company agree upon. That way, employee only needs one job.
Leftwing 'solution'. Restrict hours per week, causing companies to have to hire part time workers, and causing workers to have to work several jobs. Also forces companies to seek ways which eliminate humans altogether.
That's just seven. There are many more.
