Depends on if they're made in jest or as a derogatory comment meant to hurt feelings or do harm.

However, if kids are doing that in your class....they need to be taught a lesson in bigotry.

My H.S. teacher spent an entire 2 weeks on the subject.

He had everyone in the class come up and he measured their ears.
Students with small ears were seated on the right side of class....and the ones with bigger ears seated on the left.
I was seated on the right.
Then he started treating the students on my side like second-class citizens. Saying scientists said that people with big ears were smarter.
He also let the other kids leave class 10 mins early.

Pretty soon the big-eared students were making fun of us kids with smaller ears.
They carried it into other classes and made fun of us in lunch periods and every time they saw us in the hallway. They felt they had the right to do it because we were the stupid ones.

On Friday he said everything he said was wrong. People with small ears were actually smarter and better.
He gave us a chance to take out our hatred on the big eared kids....but none of us would do it.

I was 17 for most of 74'....and my parents would never go to a movie with me unless it was a drive-in movie.
And they didn't like violence.
Saw "5 Card Stud" and "Our Man Flint".
James Coburn was 'the man' as Derek Flint.

I recall a guy making such a comment about Jews when I was in High School. He became a cop so who knows what he is doing today. Perhaps protecting one of the pro-Hamas rallies we've had over the last few months...

I even asked them later how can you tell if someone is Jewish
