This referendum on secession for the region of Kherson in southern Ukraine from the country of Ukraine to create this "Kherson's people's republic" is emblematic of this Alice in Wonderland world that Russia has been living in over the past two months with their invasion of Ukraine; Russia totally ignores international norms and fundamental principles here. First, the territory of Kherson is still militarily contested, just five to six days ago the Ukrainian army bombed a Russian command center in Kherson killing two Russian Generals and wounding a third. It has been less than six weeks since Russian forces have really been in control of the city not really enough time for Kherson residents to recover from the Russian fighters widespread looting when they initially came into the city and the other traumas suffered from being invaded by a foreign army. The public demonstration of the public will from the citizens of Kherson on the issue of being Ukrainians has been clearly against the Russian occupation of their city there have been protests in the Kherson public square against Russian occupation which Russia has suppressed through the utilization of live gunfire. If a referendum is to have any legal validity it has to be driven by the citizens of the community that is holding the referendum this is clearly being driven by the outside government of Russia, the locals aren't even sure when the referendum is being held; and, the Mayor of the City says the referendum is illegal. Further, for a referendum to be legal the residents of the territory holding the referendum have to be told the meaning of the referendum. The residents aren't sure if the referendum means their sons can be drafted into the Russian army or the Donbas separatist forces; why would Kherson's families want their sons to fight their cousins in the Ukrainian army they consider beloved family members. Further, lets say for arguments sake the residents of Kherson support a referendum to secede from Ukraine that does not mean they want to join a sovereign territory with the separatist areas of Donetsk and Luhansk the authorities in that area being murderous, kidnapping thugs considering how they gained and held power in their areas not to mention their chin deep culpability in the unjust killing of twenty-thousand Ukrainians in Mariupol since the invasion began. Plus for any referendum to be considered legitimate authorities running the referendum have to give a fair opportunity for debate and a fair opportunity to vote and insure the vote is fairly counted; none is being provided here. This Kherson referendum is an appalling affront to modern civilization just like this Putin's war to conquer Ukraine!

I can't help but wonder if we would have elected Biden and if Ukraine would have elected Zelensky if they had any idea that the current state of affairs would be the outcome.

Knerson oblast is not the last piece on a list of future 'people's republics', I am afraid.

Totally wrong.
The Ukraine has always been about half Russian since Khrushchev the Ukrainians, illegally gave much of Russia to the Ukraine.
And the ethnic Ukrainians have always hated and discriminated against the ethnic Russians.
Since 2014, after US bribes, the fascist Azov Battalion has been murdering ethnic Russian civilians.
The attempts by Kyiv to join NATO are totally in violation of the treaties the Ukraine signed in 1992, to never join an alliance hostile to Russia.
So the Ukraine is in default and has forfeit their independent status.
And the referendum appears valid.
Half of the Ukraine has always wanted out, since they are ethnic Russian and treated so badly by Kyiv.
Anyone who thinks a fascist dictatorship by Kyiv is valid in this day and age, is a fascist themselves.

That is true.
About half the Ukraine was illegal given to the Ukraine by Khrushchev, and want out.
Dude, I understand that your ignorance hasn't known any limits, but Khrushchev had nothing to do with all this bullshit with 'about half the Ukraine'.

Lenin. If you want to be in line with Putin's narratives, put a right name in this story.

Khrushchev gave the oblast Crimea to Ukraine in 1954.
But still retained control of the Russian military base and port city Sevastopol
It was just a symbolic gesture of friendship since both the Crimea and Ukraine were part of the USSR.
Back then the idea of the USSR breaking up and Ukraine becoming an independent country was unimaginable to both friend and foe.

Kherson oblast was never a part of Crimea oblast. Can you Putin lickers be less ignorant on anything?

All 'referendums' are to fool gullible Russians only
Putin does something another one and very very strange

No, the CIA has been operating in Ukraine for the last 70 years, changing the bias and parameters.

Drug Hub Ukraine

When the CIA (or MI6) goes to church, it's certainly not to pray. Once upon a time, a priest was literally crucified at Kherson. Intelligently, one should try to keep up with nazi protection racketism in Ukraine, because Operation Paper Clip never ended in the US, and McCoy has already written The Politics of Heroin. Likely the ukronazis were high, each experiencing it as a cartoon:

2022 May 3 Russian Forces Find Torture Chamber Near Kherson, Legless Body in Russian Uniform Rigged to Explode
'....syringes, presumably for narcotics....'

So what? You think the KGB wasn't operating in NATO countries at the same time?

Funny how all these "Ukrainian" crimes only happen in Russian controlled areas...

Russia has been engaging in ethnic cleansing in Ukraine since 2014, and that's exactly what they are doing in Mariupol and Kherson today.

If you live in Russia's ethnic periphery, you are a second class citizen. Not "pure". Russian propaganda gives the villians asiatic/mongolian features so children can recognize them as evil. Racial purity is very important in Russia.

That's also why there's almost no one from Moscow or St. Petersburg fighting in Ukraine. That kind of dirty work is left to the lower class. Buryats, Yakuts, Chechens, Tatars. Much easier to deny the dead that way.

The nazi strive for pure form is evident in Ukraine, and CIA-MI6 would not only exploit this, it would also exploit the theological aspects that cultivate indignance in the prisoners. A current example is from Gonzalo Lira's blog today:

'The EU is considering imposing sanctions on the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.'

We will be excerpting from our personal two-volume set of Pospielvosky's The Orthodox Church in the History of Russia, which documents the priest's crucifixion near Kherson.
