Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, a Democrat, may choose an interim successor to the late Senator Edward Kennedy as early as today.
The Democrat-dominated state Senate voted 24-16 yesterday to let Patrick fill Kennedys seat until a special election is held Jan. 19. The House approved the measure 95-58 last week. Though further procedural action is required, the governor may be able to sign the measure today and make the appointment.
