Technically, yes, anytime you strike someone you risk death. It may only be one in a billion chance, but, it can't be absolute 0%, can it?

It was maybe slightly higher due to the fact he was wearing dress shoes on a potentially slippery surface and wasn't anticipating such a hard smack, in short, he wasn't in an offensive fighting stance, he held his hands behind his back in submission.

To say that this smack could have killed him though, is indeed, absurd and hyperbole.

If that one little slap caused Chris Rock to fall and hit his head, Chris Rock certainly could have been dead from that one slap.

That's why NO ONE tolerates that shit anymore.

That's also why a person threatening to punch you is threatening serious bodily injury or death and using deadly force against such a person is warranted.
