Regular season popularity contests don’t interest me.

First times I’ve ever seen Jocic was last year occasionally vs. Mia in the final. Won that series in 5? This year Ive tuned in every playoff minute I can. I was worried for him after MINN killed DEN twice but Jocic is leading them back right now.

Jocic is a 300 lb ballerina out there. A freight train when needed. Touch of a pianist. He uses momentum, weight, leverage, vision and position as good as anyone I’ve ever seen. He would waltz thru any smaller skinnier players like a chain saw.

Jokic is no ballerina. Not even close. He has worked on his game and has great skills, but when you talk about a big man and ballarias todsay, thats Embid. Giannis is 7 foot. So is Durant and these two can play all 5 positions. Jokic is no Russell, Ewing, Olajuwan, Kareem, Wilt, David Robinson, Ralph Sampson, Moses Malone, Artis Gilmore, Tim Duncan or Shaq.

Here’s my problem with Jokic and all the MVPs he has.

Kobe has 1
Shaq has 1
LeBron has 4
Bird has 3
Magic has 3.

Jokic on par with those guys? There has been a history of capping the number of MVPs based on historical relevance. i have a hard time with Joker having as many MVPs as Bird or Magic. Definitely with LeBron.

Even if you think he was robbed last year he was given an absolute gift this year. Luka was statistically better than him by a wide margin.

I don't think Lebron should have more than Jordan and Jokic shouldn't either. He's a hall of famer, there is no doubt about that, but, I would not put him up in GOAT status.

Hard to take the Black community serious on the issue of “fairness” in any sport. The barrage of Black personalities in radio-TV ALWAYS side with the the Blacks teaching all Black kids…..Blacks can do no wrong.

Boston had the best record and in the end Dallas won't be there. Boston will. And head to head, I'd take Tatum any day. Don't get me wrong, I like Doncic, he's a bad man, but he ain't the best player in the game. His defense doesn't exist. Tatum is better defensively, so is Giannis, Embid, and Edwards. Jalen Brunson shoud have been considered also.

And Jason Tatum has been to the NBA finals and several Eastern conference finals. You talk about 2 years ago, but last year Dallas didn't see the playoffs while Tatum was in the conference finals. Boston had the best record in the league this year. In my opinion, the best player is Giannis. But he keeps getting hurt.

I have renewed interest in the NBA, now watching every game as I develop betting strategies. I don’t know each teams players or coaching well enough so I mostly bet on points scored by team by quarter. Once the game gets going and you see HOW it may play out then you can bet on a winner and a total over-under. But the bookie is doing the same thing and adjusting the payback odds. Yes it’s difficult. Veteran teams can make younger teams like INDY or OKC fall apart 3rd & 4th quarter also.

The Unpredictability of teams like BOS or MIA almost makes it seem like “the fix is in” in some games? Win by 20 then lose by 28 w/o a clue how to score? BOS was up 9 then down 28 for a 38 pt collapse? Tatum who?

I did expect a comeback game by DEN last night and they came thru.

Looks like they want you to bet OKC under (giving better odds) 1Q points. Will Young OKC come out hot or intimidated at DAL? Will DAL go over 29pts? I'll see how it goes.

Maybe bet the total PTs DAL +OKC? Probably over-under 56.5. Good luck.

Here's the MVP voting results with conventional stats and win shares. I don't know how much stock anyone puts in advanced stats but Jokic lead the league in PER (Player efficiency rating), Win Shares, Win Shares per 48 min, Box plus minus .. and.. Value over replacement player.. and it's the 4th straight year he has done this!!! He's led the league DEFENSIVE box plus minus in each of the last 3 seasons so he's doing at both ends of the floor.

Good teams will give you a more consistent points per minute on typical days (not a bad off-shooting night). ~2.25ppm.

Younger, wild, poorly-coached or bad teams can have spurts of 4-5ppm or <10pt quarters blowing out your seemingly safe bets. Yes, it’s a gamble.

I have been underestimating DAL and over-rating OKC. DAL took that road game 2 very solidly.

Giannis is as importat or more important to his team, Embid is as or more important. Denver has a noice team, if you take Murray out of the lineup, Nokic is neutralized. Porter Jr can bomb and take you to the hole, and Gordon is a valuble rebounder and defender as well. There are a bunch of players on these teams who you say say what you did about Jokic.

I actually agree with most of what you say here.

If you notice what I said...."There is no other player more important to their team".

Wouldn't have had a problem if they chose other great players, but they didn't they chose Jokic.

I believe you could make a case for 4 to 5 players every year, I also believe no matter who is chosen someone else as deserving gets overlooked.

But that's all sports at all levels.

We've seen all of those issues for years. People assume the MVP is THE best player.

I've always said there should be a "Most Outstanding player" award, and an MVP.

I would have never given Steph Curry either of his MVP's, but most definitely the most outstanding player award based on his un-matched knack for draining near impossible 3's those few years.

There is definitely MVP fatigue... Lebron deserved it far more than Kobe did during Kobe's only MVP season. Lebron was WAY more valuable to the Cavs than Kobe to the Lakers. I think there was a collective conclusion among voters of "Kobe is too good to never win an MVP, we'll fit him in this year" kinda thing.
