Enter the Dragon, NIghtmare on Elm St actor has passed away.
Just saw him last night on an episode of Burkes Law.
(He was the murderer, beat Terry Moore to death)
John Saxon was a favored actor of mine. He was in everything and was always good. He had a particular charisma that radiated off the screen.
He was in everything on TV from Gunsmoke to The Time Tunnel, Bonanza, Ironside, It Takes A Thief, Night Gallery, The Sixth Sense, Kung Fu (first series episode), The Streets of San Francisco, The Six Million Dollar Man, Mary Tyler Moore, The Rockford Files, and Hawaii Five-O, and that is only barely scratching the surface. If your show was good at all, you knew sooner or later, John would be starring in an episode. He was a very high-demand actor.
Then there was his motion picture film career. He is remembered for endless appearances in films from Beverly Hills Cop III to A Nightmare on Elm Street, Planet Earth, The Unforgiven, to my personal favorite, Enter The Dragon with Bruce Lee. He was proficient in Judo and Shotokan Karate.
His career began in the 1950s where he quickly became a teen idol with his engaging smile, and peaked during the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. He continued to work heavily through the ‘90s into the 2000s; his last film appearance was just 5 years ago. John died of simple pneumonia yesterday the 25th, age 83 at his home in Tennessee.
If you didn't know the name, you certainly would remember the face and voice. Saxon was an actor who probably was underrated all of his life and never got the full opportunity and acting role he truly deserved, always serving in supporting roles. He supported half of Hollywood.
