Only one Moody left now. :icon_cry:

Longtime Moody Blues singer John Lodge dies ‘unexpectedly’

The Moody Blues singer and “darling husband” John Lodge has died aged 82, his family have confirmed.

Bass player Lodge joined the band in 1966 with fellow singer Justin Hayward following the departure of Denny Laine and Clint Warwick in 1966.

“It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce that John Lodge, our darling husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother has been suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us,” his family said in a statement.

A lot of my rock heroes have died over the years. Each death stings. It's nice to see some of them live to their 80s. Not a lot did.

Tom Petty's death hurt the most. Only 66 years old.

Well done, John Lodge. Good for you, sir.

Not always.
Sure, we dont always die of a heart attack or stroke but at 82 we always die and half the time it is the heart

Add that fact to drugs and alcohol and cigarettes

Add that fact to smoke filled stadiums the moody blues played for decades

It is a miracle these old rockers live as long as they do, or ...

The Moody Blues are my favorite British rock band. RIP John.

Seriously, The Moody Blues was one of the greatest bands of all time right up there with the biggest names. They were far batter than the limited recognition and notoriety they garnered, I suspect in large part because they produced little in the way of soundbite tunes easily playable on the radio. John Lodge used to play in some little hole in the wall cafe called the Teabury or something like that before getting snatched up by the Moodies where he would run into other fledgling bands like the Beatles.

Lodge was part of a set of several musicians brought in to retool the Moodies after deciding to totally revamp their sound. The bought a mellotron, the new Moody sound was invented and they never looked back again.

I still have a still-sealed unopened copy of the Moodies very first release.

The very first album I purchased with my own money was 'Days of Future Past'. Those guys got me through a lot of sad and lonely times growing up.
I really didn't know anything about them until they released 'Seventh Sojourn', and by that time they were done until they reemerged in 1979. Just a great band, and some really great music.
