Palmer was born with genital ambiguity, assigned male at birth, and underwent several surgeries, the last in her late twenties. Palmer said her gender dysphoria had been a part of her life since she had been young, and that the dysphoria "started to reassert itself again" in the year following the death of her wife Maggie in 1995.

Sounds like a sad case in that regard. Great muso though.

I read that which is why I didn't mention it. If the doctors say you have gender ambiguity, and had to spin the bottle and take a guess, and as an adult you make the decision to go with female identity, more power to you.

I doubt they had genetic/DNA analysis in the late 50s/early 60s to make a truly scientific evaluation.
