California Governor Jerry Brown, running for an unprecedented fourth term, says that if he can curb his fellow Democrats’ spending dreams, the most-indebted state may win its highest credit rating in five years.

Brown and lawmakers are pushing separate versions of a budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. Democrats who control the legislature want to spend more of the surplus money California is raking in from capital gains and $7 billion of higher income and sales taxes that voters approved in 2012. Brown says the state must first put aside money for a rainy day and pay down its debts.

Well you know, California could make a real killing if they taxed the ultra-rich properly by getting rid of the tax loopholes. Just think of how many mega super movie stars live there who make millions in just ONE film they make (and many make several films a year!) Couple that with the Multi-Millionaires and Billionaires who also live there and with just them alone California could be well on its way to ameliorating its financial woes! No Kidding!

California already has a special millionaires tax. That's why so many have left. The real money is held by foreigners who keep vacation and second homes. They pay property tax but no income tax because no money is earned here. The mega movie stars have done the same thing.

Jerry Brown can say anything he wants. The democrats have a super majority that can override anything Brown does.

And an even bigger supermajority than that: the voters. Brown last Summer told them all to go **** themselves on Prop 8 when he and his AG Harris know damn well what was said in Windsor and how Prop 8 was struck on standing, not on substance...

Brown declared marshall law on marriages in California. It is still illegal there for gays to "marry" today. Brown just decided he doesn't have to listen to his state's own constitution and the Will of the majority there. That's why the Dead Kennedy's song lyrics I posted on the fist page here are so agonizingly funny. They describe Brown as a fascist. Back then we all thought it was just them trying to get attention to sell albums. Turns out it's actually true. Jerry Brown's little oligarchy are dictators.
